Evan Peters cast as serial killer in Netflix true crime series about Jeffrey Dahmer

Evan Peters has been cast as one of the most notorious serial killers in American history, Jeffrey Dahmer, in the Netflix true crime series about his case, it has been reported.

The limited series is being created by Ryan Murphy (creator of American Horror Story, Glee, The Politician, Ratched) and will tell the story of the serial killer, cannibal and sex offender. Dahmer, also known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster, committed the murder and dismemberment of 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991.

Evan Peters is a bit of a go-to for Ryan Murphy, having also starred in his shows American Horror Story and Pose. This time he will play the killer himself, and he joins Niecy Nash, Penelope Ann Miller, Shaun J Brown, Colin Ford and Richard Jenkins in the cast, reports Deadline.

Niecy Nash (recently in Netflix series Never Have I Ever) will play Glenda Cleveland, Dahmer’s neighbour, who called the police a number of times and attempted to alert the FBI about his erratic behaviour. Penelope Ann Miller and Richard Jenkins will play Dahmer’s parents and Shaun J Brown will play Tracy, Dahmer’s last intended victim who managed to escape and lead the police to his apartment, where Dahmer was later arrested.

The series will come mostly from the prospective of the victims in the case. It will reportedly dramatise 10 instances where the serial killer was almost caught but ultimately let go. It is also reportedly going to explore white privilege, as the killer is known to have been treated leniently when it came to petty crimes.
