Meet the super rich cast of new Netflix reality show Bling Empire

This series is like Selling Sunset drama, but with actual billionaires

| UPDATED

Netflix has just dropped new reality series Bling Empire, which is basically Selling Sunset level of drama but this time with a cast full of LA’s biggest and wealthiest Asian socialites.

Bling Empire follows a wildly rich group of Asian and Asian American friends (and frenemies) in Los Angeles. While their days and nights are filled with fabulous parties and expensive shopping sprees, don’t let the glitz and glamour fool you. Between running multi-billion dollar businesses and traveling the world, these friends are as good at keeping secrets as they are at spilling them. And there is certainly no shortage of secrets.

They’re described as having “the world at their disposal” – and they literally do. We’re talking millionaires and billionaires. Meet the cast of Bling Empire on Netflix here.

Kevin opens up the Netflix show. He was born in Korea and adopted into a white family – which he says means gives him a reason to have less of an understanding of Asian culture. Kevin moved from Pennsylvania to L.A. to pursue a career in modelling, and that is now his job. He’s the “everyman” of Bling Empire, and probably the only one who isn’t mad rich. He’s meant to ground the show after being introduced into the wealthy clique.

Kane Lim

Kane is instantly introduced to the show as being a billionaire and says he knows all the crazy rich Asians in LA. He’s from Singapore and moved to LA to continue his family business investments. His family money comes from oil, shipping, tanking and real estate, with Kevin adding that Kane “owns the shopping malls you go into in South East Asia”. Kevin and Kane are best friends.

Christine Chiu

Christine Chiu was born in Taiwan, but now lives in Bel Air. She is a self-described “philanthropist, investor, and couture collector”. Other members of the Bling Empire cast describe her as the “Queen of Beverly Hills”, but people say she’s got more and more materialistic and loves to name drop. If you were looking for a Christine Quinn type character for this show, aptly with the same name, look no further.

Dr Gabriel Chiu

Christine’s husband is Gabriel Chiu, who built and runs Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery, a clinic in Los Angeles. In the show, it’s revealed he is 24th direct descent of Song dynasty, an imperial dynasty of China that began in 960 and lasted until 1279. If they were still in existence Gabriel’s father would be an emperor and he would be next in line. Gabriel and Christine have a son together, also called Gabriel (or Baby G). If the dynasty was still a thing now, their son would be a prince.

Kelly Mi Li

Kelly lives in West Hollywood with her boyfriend Andrew. She explains that she was married to a Chinese man in her 20s and had a very privileged life (the pair owned seven cars and four houses – in case you’re wondering). Until one day he was arrested for running one of the biggest cyber scams in American history. Kelly admits she barely even knew the man she was sleeping next to.

After this, she became an entrepreneur which helped her feel “me again” and “take power back”. Now she just wants to date for love.

Andrew Gray

Kelly’s boyfriend is Andrew, who is an actor, best known as the actual red Power Ranger. He’s half Latin and half American and also works as a professional model, represented in various cities in the United States, in Italy and in Asia.

Anna Shay

Much to Christine’s dislike, Anna Shay is who most would say is the real queen here. She lives in Beverly Hills and is half Japanese and half Russian. On the show it says she is “super super wealthy” and that her money comes from weapons. “Her father sells bombs, guns, defence technology and is a worth a few billion”, adds Kane. Anna’s father, Edward Shay, is in fact the late billionaire founder of Pacific Architects and Engineers, a defence contracting firm.

Anna has a son called Kenny Kemp, who briefly appears on the show.

Jaime Xie

Jaime is the youngest member of the Bling Empire cast, aged 23. She explains that she quit college and wanted to be an Olympic horse rider but then realised she loved fashion more. Now she is on her way to becoming a name in fashion, with her name in Vogue already.

In the show it’s said her money comes from Silicon Valley and her dad is a billionaire. Jamie’s father is billionaire Ken Xie, a cybersecurity technology entrepreneur who founded a business with his brother.

Kim Lee

Kim Lee was born in California and raised by her mom and stepdad. Her mother is from Vietnam and her stepdad is from France. She used to be a model, but is now a world-famous DJ. On the show she is described as “Asia’s Calvin Harris” and the  “number one hottest female in south east Asia”.

Guy Tang

Guy Tang is, let’s just say, a bit of everything. He’s a celebrity hair colourist, YouTuber and musician. It looks like his money might actually be self-made.

Cherie Chan

In the show, Cherie is introduced as having previously been on her way to becoming a pop star in Japan. Now, she and her partner Jessey Lee are busy raising their son, Jevon, and a daughter, Jadore.
