Where is the Carmel Country Club from Netflix’s series about Maria Marta?

Last week, Netflix released Carmel: Who Killed Maria Marta?, a true crime documentary series about the unsolved death of an Argentinian socialite. Maria Marta Garcia Belsunce was found in her home at the Carmel Country Club by her husband, and at first it was believed she was killed in an accident. It was later found she had been shot and left in the bath.

Where Maria Marta had been living has been described as one of the safest places in the area, where everyone who came in and out of the gates needed to be approved by security. That means whoever killed her must have almost definitely been known to have been in the the gated region at the time – unless they had somehow broken in. So where is the Carmel Country Club where she lived?

Where is the Carmel Country Club where Maria Marta was found?

Maria Marta Garcia Belsunce lived with her husband Carlos Carrascosa in a seemingly safe, gated community in the Carmel Country Club, Pilar, Buenos Aires, Argentina. The couple liked that the area was secluded, and away from the hustle and bustle. People interviewed in the documentary said that others living within the community were friends and would often pop to each other’s houses for coffee, and Maria Marta had lots of friends she would see often.

The people who live there are affluent, there are tennis and sports courts and on-site security drive around on golf caddies. The club is described as one of the “exclusive gated communities known as ‘countries’ in the outskirts of Buenos Aires.”

Maria Marta and Carlos shared a big house there, which they bought shortly after it started to be developed. It is believed they lived in the further end of the club, as the murder investigation looked at CCTV cameras which were situated on the back gates – but their exact address hasn’t been made public.

Their house has been described as “hidden in one of the corners of a large lot delimited by lush trees. Two floors, gabled roofs, three fireplaces, the combination of brick in the walls and wood in the openings, a large balcony, a pool and the rest grass and garden.

“On the upper floor, a living room serves as an anteroom for the bedroom: both rooms have access to the only balcony. On the other side, the bathroom en suite.”

Maria Marta’s death remains unsolved.
