Ranked: The most iconic outbursts of MIC’s Maeva from least to most brutal

‘I haven’t finished my eggs, so’

| UPDATED

Those of us who watch Made in Chelsea all know Maeva D’Ascanio never holds back when it comes to voicing her opinion. Her no-nonsense French attitude has seen some pretty cutthroat remarks being thrown around since she joined the show in March 2019 and she has since reigned queen of the iconic outburst.

From surprising her on-again-off-again ex in lingerie with her appearance on the show to then leaving him for his BEST FRIEND, this girl is quite something. She speaks her mind and never holds back, often resulting in a lot of drama. She is the ultimate pot-stirrer and has created so many cringe-worthy awkward silences that to list them would be impossible.

This is a run down and a ranking of the moments that had me speechless – it will come as no surprise to you MIC super-fans that most of them involve her favourite people, Habbs, Eliza and Verity.

“You are so fake”

First up, straight talking and to the point is how Maeva chooses to live her life and she made sure roommate Rosi knew exactly how she felt when Rosi said she was going to move in with Verity for a while.

Miss Maeva was actually upset by this betrayal of girl code and did shed a tear, but not before telling Rosi “you are so fake!” and yelling “you want us to be able to keep our friendship?! Like that? I don’t think so” and flouncing off into the distance.

“She is like a fly”

Back in Maeva’s first season on the show, when James said he was going to see Eliza, Maeva was far from impressed given the history between them and compared Miss Batten to the common household pest: “She is annoying! She is like a fly in the apartment!”

This line was of course delivered with the famous D’Ascanio eye roll and hair flick, the level of sass I wish I had tbh.

“I can be a nightmare”

We love a self-aware queen. This little strop happened over FaceTime with Verity’s then-boyfriend Tristan Phipps (the situation is more complicated now, I don’t think they even know what’s going on) and was to do with James, who at the time, was good friends with Tristan.

James had been asked by Tristan to be nicer to Verity or it would impact their friendship. This didn’t exactly sit well with Maeva who, as I’m sure you’re aware, is not a fan of Verity. She was annoyed that Tristan had put James in this position and so decided to FaceTime him to sort things out.

When things weren’t going her way, she decided the conversation was over and told Tristan:  ‘‘I can be rude, I can be horrible, I can be a nightmare. But right now I was trying to be nice so I have nothing else to say to you Tristan goodbye” and promptly ended the call.

“Shut your mouth”

A little James/Maeva beef here which we all love to see, the two of them are pretty evenly matched so watching them argue is particularly entertaining…However, on this occasion, James didn’t really have a leg to stand on as he had told ex-girlfriend Verity that he missed her. Maeva found out and was far from impressed.

The situation is a little more complicated than that as there was a lot of gossip and lying and ‘who actually said what to who’ with Maeva believing James over Verity BUT that’s not important. What we care about is the fact that Maeva very frankly put James in his place.

Having just got out the taxi on their way back from holiday James tried to bring up the issue, a big mistake to be honest. He didn’t get a word in edgeways before Maeva said: “If you just shut your mouth we wouldn’t be in this situation”. James was left open-mouthed and had no real response.

“I think you are probably a viper”

Ah Maeva, how you can say things like this, to someone’s face, without even batting an eyelid or breaking into a nervous sweat I’ll never know (would it be wrong to say I’m slightly envious?).

Approaching Verity to challenge her regarding the ‘did James say he missed you or are you lying?’ debate as previously mentioned, Maeva decided to tell Verity that James was being truthful and that she thought that she was lying.

When questioned about this, Maeva shrugged and said: “eh, I think you are probably a viper or something”. This was not received well by Rosi and Amelia, two other MIC girls who happened to be with Verity for drinks that evening.

When Amelia tried to stand up for her friend, keyword being tried, Maeva gave her the dirtiest look I think I’ve ever seen before sneering and saying: “shh I wasn’t talking to you”.

How can she be so mean and so confrontational without getting even the littlest bit stressed?! In her own words, “probably because [she’s] French”.

“You have some nerve”

Next up came from season 17. Habbs and Maeva have never been the best of friends, but this season saw the two clash heads on countless occasions, leaving us watching wide-eyed and open-mouthed.

This fiery French outburst came as a result of Habbs suggesting Maeva was simply showing interest in James to make Miles jealous. Habbs confronted her whilst the two were out for drinks with the rest of the MIC cast and it’s safe to say Maeva was far from impressed.

In all fairness, Habbs did suggest she go back to France and even when Maeva turned on the waterworks (think YouTuber apology video – there were no actual tears), Habbs didn’t falter and stood her ground. Maeva shot her dirty looks before spitting out the scathing line “I think you really got some nerve to talk to me this way. I don’s know you” and strutting off into the distance before Habbs could properly get her response across.

I mean – know your worth I guess?

“The guest list is shit”

Not only is she the queen of the clap back, but Maeva D’Ascanio is a little bit of a princess too (are we surprised though?). When Rosi organised a trip to Istanbul for Maeva’s birthday, she was annoyed that she and James weren’t alone on the trip.

Lounging on a sunlit rooftop, she shouted at James: “The guest list for this trip is sh*t” and expressed her annoyance that the two couldn’t have more alone time.

“I can’t stand you”

Always one to speak her mind and never hold back, this crucial blow was delivered to Durham Uni’s Eliza Batten. Eliza was doing research interviews for her dissertation and James Taylor suggested she speak to Maeva.

After Maeva found out Eliza was on her way she did a classic Maeva move, rolling her eyes and adding that overdramatic gasp before calling Eliza a ‘plan b’ for James.

Safe to say the interview didn’t last long, go well, or even really take place. Maeva fired Eliza down before she even started the process, saying: “When I see you I just can’t stand you. Seriously I don’t even know why you came”. Incred.

“Eh oh well, I think he deserves this”

On finding out her now ex-boyfriend Miles had slept with another girl whilst they were semi-together but not broken up (Ross would probably say they were on a break), she gave Miles a piece of her mind before promptly chucking her drink in his face.

When later questioned about this by Habbs she smiled, shrugged and delivered the off the cuff remark “eh oh well, I think he deserves this”.

Get it girl.

“His face makes me sick”

Following on from the topic of her drink in Miles’ face, Maeva had further justification when asked about the incident.

She told her friends: “I couldn’t control it, his face makes me sick!”. It’s safe to say she was a little more worked up on this occasion than when she casually told Habbs she thought he deserved it.

The Daily Mail dubbed this a “venomous” statement but, in all fairness to Maeva, we all relate to feeling a certain way about our exes following a break-up so this only adds to her relatability.

“I did not know that you were supposed to come today”

Now I think we all wish we had Maeva’s balls at the best of times, but this was one of those moments where I actually had to pause the programme in shock. Maeva and Miles seem to have a Chuck and Blair type love. And this got even worse when Miles brought his new fling Sami and the two clashed heads at a drinks party.

Maeva looked her in the eye and, with a smile on her face, delivered the brutal line: “It’s lovely to see you Sami, I did not know that you were supposed to come today because Miles messaged me and told me that, apparently, he wanted to come by himself”.

Speechless.

Sami was far from impressed and the night took a turn for the worse following their encounter. Another example of excellent viewing created by Maeva.

“You are like a dog”

This is arguably too mean but the delivery of the line meant it couldn’t go unmentioned. In the current season, there’s been a lot of drama surrounding Verity and Tristan and how she ended things over the phone (to be fair we are in a pandemic she can’t really be blamed for this). Then she kissed Tristan’s friend Holmes and then moved on to start flirting with another friend, Charlie.

Maeva was far from impressed upon hearing about this information and decided to tell Verity how she felt (obviously): “You see two boys, and you’re like a dog”. Just to add drama she held her hands up like little paws and panted – fair to say this is pretty outrageous and we all gave credit Verity for not immediately bursting into tears.

“I haven’t finished my eggs”

It had to take first place and is without a doubt one of the best moments of all the 18 seasons of the show.

Let’s set the scene – whilst Maeva was having breakfast with James and Liv, Verity approached the table and asked if she could talk to Liv following recent developments with Tristan. Maeva (who obvs hates Verity) looked her dead in the eye, interrupting her exchange with Liv at the time, and said: “No. Not right now, I haven’t finished my eggs. So…”

She then proceeded to actually sip her tea, think Kermit the Frog meme, whilst starring Verity down. The stifled giggles from James and the line: “Ah okay then, we’ll wait for you to finish your eggs then” really rounded off the moment and earned it the rightful place at number one for me.
