We have become so used to seeing perfectly choreographed dances, POVs that could be in a film and endless “never have I ever” challenges that we forget there was a time before TikTok. Before TikTok, there was Musical.ly and before Musical.ly, there were three glorious years of Vine.

There’s no denying that Vine shaped Gen Z/Millenial pop culture: Four years on and students are quoting Vines on a daily basis, the iconic quotes have made their way on to TikTok and many Vine stars are now successful YouTubers.

There’s a fierce rivalry between the two apps with the dedicated Viners declaring nothing can live up to the greatness of the original Vine. But which side do you fall on in this debate?
