These are all the tiny details in The Kissing Booth 2 that you definitely missed
The Flynn house is the same villa used in Black Mirror and Love Island
The Kissing Booth is one of those film franchises which you just can’t help but enjoy. It’s a typically trashy rom-com, with not much value in terms of a plot but boy, we soak up every second. But how many of the tiny details in The Kissing Booth 2 on Netflix did you really pick up on?
The sequel was filled with little nods to the first film and parts which make it all the more wholesome. Here are some of the best easter eggs and small details which you probably missed whilst watching The Kissing Booth 2 on Netflix.
The Flynn house is in Cape Town, and is the same villa used in Black Mirror and Love Island
The amazing house where the dinner scene at the Flynn family home is filmed is in Cape Town, South Africa. It’s not the first time this house has been used in a Netflix series, it’s where Ashley-O lives in the Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too episode of Black Mirror.
You might recognise the villa further, because it’s the same place where the winter version of UK Love Island was filmed this year. Obviously it gets a very big makeover for Love Island, so it looks very different.
In fact, a lot of the film was filmed in Cape Town
Despite the film being set in California, a lot of it was actually filmed in Cape Town, South Africa. The University of Cape Town was a filming location for the college and school scenes.
Did anyone else notice when Noah threw that sign and it hit an innocent bystander?
When Noah came to meet Elle at the airport, he had a cute sign which read “Elle Evans” on the front and “I missed you more” on the back. But when she came towards him, he chucked it and it hit some poor guy on the back. Did anyone check if he’s ok?
Elle’s full name is on her college application
Does anyone else completely forget that Elle’s full name is Rochelle? She’s literally never called it.
OMG Girl Mia is now a totally different actress?!
You may have noticed that Mia from the OMG Girls looks a bit different in the second film, and that’s because she’s been recast. In the first film she was played by Jessica Sutton but in the sequel she is played by Camilla Wolfson.
Heather was in the first film as well
Heather, who shows Elle the video of Marco and then lets her go on her rant about how hot he is over the school’s intercom, was actually in this first film too. The second film wasn’t the first time Elle and Heather have a run-in, Heather was kissing Noah at a party in The Kissing Booth 1. Heather doesn’t take too well to Elle disturbing them and puts hands on her, but Noah defends Elle and chucks her out.
Taylor Zakhar Perez learned how to play guitar for the film
Taylor Zakhar Perez, who has us all swooning as he plays the guitar as Marco, actually learned to play the instrument just for the film. In an interview he said he’d never played a guitar before, and had lessons for three hours a day.
And Maisie Richardson-Sellers had to learn to play pool
Taylor wasn’t the only one who learned a totally new skill for the film. Maisie Richardson-Sellers, who plays Chloe, is impressive at pool when she’s filmed having a game with Noah. But this is because she actually trained with a champion pool player before filming, which she said in a interview was a “childhood dream”.
Olivia ends up kissing the guy she was desperate not to before
In the first film, Olivia kicks up a fuss saying “she can’t do it” about kissing Melvin in the booth.
But what goes around comes around, because in The Kissing Booth 2 she ends up kissing him and even admits, “you weren’t bad”.
Elle and Noah reunite where they had their first *proper* kiss
Probably the cutest of all the easter eggs and details in The Kissing Booth 2 is the little nod to where Elle and Noah had their first real kiss. In the first movie, they have a dramatic kiss in the rain under the gazebo in the park after kissing for the first time in the booth. Near the end of the second movie they reunite there, despite everything which has happened between them. I know you cried.
