Love Island is reportedly returning this summer with a Gogglebox style spin-off

Iconic Islanders will be rewatching the most classic moments

All is not lost this summer as Love Island could be returning with a Gogglebox style spin-off show instead, according to reports.

Two weeks ago it was announced that Love Island 2020 this summer was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. Producers said they could not guarantee the safety of the contestants, who would usually fly out to Mallorca to film the series.

But instead, bosses have reportedly said they will run a spin-off show where past Islanders will watch back some of the best episodes and wildest moments from the previous seasons.

A show source told The Daily Star: “This news is going to thrill Love Island’s millions of fans. It means they will still get their fix this summer. It’s going to be a lovely trip down memory lane for the contestants. They’ll be watching some of their best – and worst – moments. Seeing their reactions will be priceless.

“It will also be a chance for viewers to see how the contestants have changed since their time on Love Island.”

Producers are apparently eyeing up favourites such as Megan Barton-Hanson, Olivia Attwood, Kem Cetinay and Amber Gill to take part in the new show which will be filmed from their homes.

There is not a certain release date for the new show, but it is thought the series will air around the normal summer time of when a Love Island series would be on.

ITV is yet to officially comment on reports.

Can you just imagine Megan Barton-Hanson rewatching iconic Megan Barton-Hanson?! Summer 2020 might not be cancelled after all.
