Tiger King: The missing person case for Don Lewis has been reopened

Tiger King has it all, lies, murder and arson, but one particular topic caused more contention and speculation than any – just what happened to Don Lewis? There’s speculation that Carole Baskin, his wife, fed him to her tigers, or that he was put in the septic tank beneath her property. One suggestion is even that she pushed him through a meat grinder.

These have long been thoughts on the minds of many since the series aired, including it seems, the Florida Police force, who have issued a plea for new leads on the case. Sheriff Chad Chronister tweeted out a plea on Monday asking for anyone with any information on the whereabouts or disappearance of Jack Donald Lewis to come forward:

According to Tampa Bay Times, tips are coming in quick: “Chronister said the agency is receiving about a half dozen tips per day related to Tampa’s Jack ‘Don’ Lewis, once the husband of Big Cat Rescue CEO Carole Baskin.

“If you have seen the series… there was a lot of questions and theories of who was loyal and was someone really there as a spy. So what we’re hoping is maybe someone has had a change of heart, maybe a relationship status has changed. Anything that will prompt someone to call with a legitimate lead, a piece of evidence.

“So we’ve tried over the years… to do everything we can to try to solve this case. And so far, there’s been no evidence, and unfortunately, we weren’t in this technological era that we are now. There was no GPS and cell phones, something that probably would help us solve this case if it would have occurred now.”

Carole vehemently denied all of Tiger King’s claims in a blog post on her website titled “Refuting Netflix Tiger King”. She wrote: “There are not words for how disappointing it is to see that the docuseries not only does not do any of that, but has had the sole goal of being as salacious and sensational as possible to draw viewers. As part of that, it has a segment devoted to suggesting, with lies and innuendos from people who are not credible, that I had a role in the disappearance of my husband Don 21 years ago.

“The series presents this without any regard for the truth or in most cases even giving me an opportunity before publication to rebut the absurd claims. They did not care about the truth. The unsavoury lies are better for getting viewers.”

On the whole, it seems that Carole and her husband are two of the few people that think that his disappearance is anything other than due to murder or some sort of cover-up. It’s even been questioned by celebrities such as Cardi B, Wiz Khalifa and Kim Kardashian, who tweeted:

If there’s anyone that thinks Carole killed her husband it’s Joe, who made the topic the subject of many online TV episodes, music videos and interviews. His song “Here Kitty Kitty” depicts an actress dressed as Carole feeding bits of her husband to a tiger through a fence:
