Pret is making all hot drinks free for NHS workers and we love to see it

This is the good news we need!

Pret announced on their Twitter this morning they will be making all their hot drinks free for NHS workers.

They also said they will be taking 50 per cent off everything else in store for NHS staff and thanking the staff for what they do.

In the post they wrote: “Dear NHS workers, your hot drinks are on the house from today, and we’ll take 50 per cent off everything else.

“Thank you for everything you are doing. We look forward to serving you.

“With love, everyone at Pret.”

I could honestly cry at how good this.

In other coffee related news, Pret have banned the use of reusable coffee cups because of the spread of coronavirus.

A lecturer from the University of Sussex has said a reusable cup can increase the chance of spreading the disease because:

“SARS-CoV-2, which causes Covid-19, is a respiratory virus. This means the virus replicates in cells that line the airways and given the proximity of the airway and mouth, new virus particles produced can readily contaminate the saliva.

“Therefore, reusable cups that have not been cleaned and have the virus on their surfaces pose a potential route of transmission for respiratory infections if the cup comes into contact with the coffee machine.”

Pret will still be offering the same discount to customers who bring in their reusable cup.

Starbucks and Greggs are also banning the use of reusable cups. However Costa and Cafe Nero told Huffington Post they had no immediate plans to change their reusable cup policies.
