Everything we know about the ‘fight’ between Caroline Flack and her boyfriend

Last Friday, Love Island host Caroline Flack was arrested and charged with assault by beating after an apparent bust up with her boyfriend. Caroline Flack and Lewis Burton have been together since summer this year, and were thought to be living together at Caroline’s flat in London where the incident took place.

Since then, a lot has been said about the alleged fight and what caused the argument in the first place. Here’s a rundown of everything that has come out about the drama so far.

Caroline Flack was arrested and charged with assault by beating on Friday

Last week, the Love Island host was arrested and charged with assault by beating following police being called to a “domestic disturbance” at her flat.

A man, who is believed to be her boyfriend Lewis, was taken in an ambulance and treated for his injuries.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called yesterday (Thursday 12 December) at 5.28am to reports of a person unwell in Islington. We sent an ambulance to the scene and took a person to hospital.”

She is due to appear in court next week

Caroline is due to appear in Magistrates’ Court later this month to face the charges. A Met Police spokesman said: “Caroline Flack, 40, of Islington was charged on Friday, 13 December with assault by beating. She will appear on bail at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 December.

“This follows an incident at approximately 05:25hrs on Thursday, 12 December after reports of a man being assaulted. He was not seriously injured.”

It was apparently Lewis Burton who called the police after Caroline cut her hand

Both Caroline Flack and Lewis Burton are said to have received hospital treatment for their injuries. During the altercation, it is believed Caroline cut her hand on a piece of glass.

According to The Daily Star, it was Lewis that rang 999 because of Caroline’s injuries – but the call ended in her arrest.

Witnesses said there was ‘total chaos’ outside her home on the night of the fight

Six police cars were pictured outside Caroline’s flat in London when she was arrested. An eyewitness told the Daily Mail: “It was total chaos. There were police cars everywhere. At first I thought it might have been a terrorist incident but then I looked out and saw police going into Flack’s home. They brought her out soon after.”

Another added: “There must have been around six police cars and a police van. We see Caroline and her boyfriend coming in and out of the house and around the area. It must have been around 5am and it was total chaos. I was on my way to work and didn’t know what was going on. It was only when I got home that somebody in the block told me she’d been arrested.”

Eyewitnesses also said police were in the property for around two hours.

Lewis Burton apparently shouted at police as he was taken away

Caroline’s boyfriend is said to have shouted at police as he was led away. According to eyewitnesses who spoke to The Daily Star, Lewis was heard telling officers: “Bruv, I was normal until I met her.”

Blood was spotted on the front door of her flat

The pink door of Caroline’s Islington flat has been pictured with blood splatters on it. However, it is not known whether these are linked to the incident on Friday.

Caroline reportedly threw a phone at Lewis after finding texts from a 60-year-old-woman

According to the Sun, the whole argument began when Caroline found “flirty” texts on Lewis’ phone between him and a 60-year-old woman. She then allegedly accused him of cheating before the row began.

However a source has said the texts were misunderstood by Caroline and tennis coach Lewis was in fact messaging the woman about a coaching class. The source said: “Both Caroline and Lewis are absolutely heartbroken and devastated at the moment — and Caroline is beside herself with regret.

“It was a stupid drunken row which got out of control. Caroline accused him of sleeping around and found messages on his mobile phone which made her angry and upset.

“They were from one of his tennis clients, a 60-year-old woman, which she misconstrued. Caroline got paranoid. She started massively over-thinking and convinced herself Lewis was flirting with another woman.

“Neither Lewis nor Caroline wanted the matter to go any further, obviously. But because the scene looked so bad and Caroline was so apologetic, police were duty-bound to take action and arrested her.”

Caroline Flack and Lewis Burton are still together

It has been reported that Lewis doesn’t want to press charges against Caroline and it is the police who are pursuing the case. On Saturday, Lewis posted a picture of him and Caroline with a love heart emoji – showing they are clearly still together despite the incident.

A source told The Mirror: “Lewis is the one who called police but they still want to stay together. They both love each other very much and they’re desperate to make it work.”

Lewis made a further statement on his Instagram story today which read: “I’m tired of the lies and abuse aimed at my girlfriend. This is not a witch hunt this is someone’s life. I have not signed any NDA. Why would I? Caroline is the most lovely girl. Loyal and kind. She doesn’t deserve any of this.”

Caroline’s ex Andrew Brady has posted a picture of an NDA on Instagram

Last year, Caroline was engaged to The Apprentice’s Andrew Brady. Following the news last week, he has posted a picture of an NDA on his Instagram profile.

He captioned the post “abusehasnogender”, though there has never been a suggestion of abuse in their relationship. A spokesperson for Caroline has said: “Any suggestion Mr Brady has made that our client is in any way abusive would be false and defamatory.”

The NDA is dated 14th March 2018 and is thought to be copies of an NDA from when he was engaged to Caroline Flack.

Andrew has also branded their previous relationship as ‘toxic’

Andrew posted on Instagram when he was having a tattoo of Caroline’s initials covered up. Since their relationship broke down, he moved to Australia and he had the tattoo covered with a map of Aus and a love heart.

He posted on his story: “It’s exactly a year tomorrow since I left a very toxic relationship and got away. I mark it one year on by doing something I should have done a while ago.”

Andrew Brady has reportedly texted Lewis Burton

Caroline’s ex fiancee Andrew has reportedly texted Lewis Burton to say he is there to support him. Andrew apparently texted saying this was “just the tip of the iceberg” to which Lewis replied telling him to stay out of his business.

A source close to Andrew told MailOnline: “Andrew wanted to be there for Lewis. He text him saying if he wanted to chat then he’d be open to talking as he ‘knows what it’s like’ but he was also keen to quiz Lewis on whether he’d signed a non-disclosure agreement.

“Lewis replied telling him to stay out of their business and made clear he’d not been asked to sign any documents.”

Love Island bosses are said to be in ‘crisis talks’ over her role as host

Caroline Flack is due to travel to South Africa around New Year’s for the latest series of Love Island, which will be filmed in Cape Town. It is unclear if this will affect her hosting role. Speculation is rife over who might take over her role, if anyone does. Names being thrown around include Maya Jama, Laura Whitmore and Emily Atack.

According to the Mirror: “Love Island bosses are in crisis talks amid the chaotic fall out of Caroline Flack’s arrest.”

Caroline is reportedly ‘terrified’ her career is over

According to friends, Caroline is worried the incident will be the end of her TV hosting career. The Daily Mirror reports a friend said: “Caroline’s terrified she’ll never work in TV again. The timing couldn’t be worse.

“Caroline was due to fly New Year’s Day, with the show starting a week later, but now it’s been thrown into chaos. No one knows what will happen so bosses are drawing up contingency plans.”

Another friend has added Caroline may be frightened, but is trying to remain positive. They told the Mirror: “She remains positive that the charge will be dropped as both she and Lewis understand it was a silly, drunken row that got out of hand. Caroline is feeling hopeful that she’ll still host Love Island series six.”
