Megabus is offering free travel for couples who go to different universities

Cute!

Coach company Megabus is offering a new discount to couples who study at different universities, to make the struggles of long distance relationships that little bit easier.

The discount is called the “Sweetheart Saver” and will be on offer for any couple that has to travel to see each other at uni.

The discount would make travelling completely free and can be applied on its network between two destinations, for an entire year.

For the moment, the company is just trialing the discount for 10 lucky couples who apply to a prize draw. But if it’s successful the deal will be rolled out in 2020.

Announcing the ticket, Megabus said: “We’re launching an industry-first ‘Sweetheart Saver’ trial ticket, offering free travel for couples in a long-distance relationship to travel between two destinations on its network for a year. Jonny, aged 21, is currently studying and living in Nottingham, but his girlfriend Sofie, aged 21, is living and working 127 miles away in London. The couple are one of the first to trial the new Sweetheart Saver ticket.”

New research from Megabus has revealed student couples are spending on average £4,806.96 a year to keep their relationships going strong.

The research found couples live on average 231 miles apart and are trying to see each other three times a month.

To be in with a chance of winning free travel for a year under the new trial, you have to enter your details on the Megabus website.

The draw closes Thursday 12th December at 23:59pm and full terms and conditions are on the website too.

There’s even a really cute advert for the Sweetheart Saver ticket:

Just in time for Christmas, how adorable.
