Missing gap year backpacker drowned accidentally, post mortem finds

Amelia Bambridge’s body was found at sea 30 miles from where she was last seen

Amelia Bambridge, the backpacker who disappeared in Cambodia, died from accidental drowning, a post-mortem has found.

21-year-old Amelia, travelling around Vietnam and Cambodia on her gap year, went missing after a beach party on Koh Rong island last week.

Yesterday, her body was found 30 miles from where she was last seen.

Her death is not thought to be related to a crime, officials said, according to the BBC.

Amelia's body has been released to her family, who travelled from their home in Worthing, West Sussex to join the search, to bring it back to the UK.

On Facebook, Amelia's sister wrote: "It breaks my heart to let all my close family and friends know the horrendous outcome that we didn't want.

"Now we have to get our Amelia back home to England so we can lay her beautiful soul to rest and to remember the wonderful life she lived."
