This is the final week you can watch porn online for free

It’s a cruel world

From the 1st April 2019, UK porn websites will be blocked by all internet providers unless users can verify their age, meaning this is the FINAL WEEK to watch free online porn.

This block is being introduced by the Digital Economy Act 2017, and was created to prevent minors being able to access inappropriate materials as easy as they have been in recent years.

Websites such as PornHub and YouPorn must comply with these regulations, otherwise they will be given a fine or blanket block by UK internet providers.

How will they introduce identification procedures?

The Digital Economy Act 2017 have introduced an age verification system for porn sites to ensure the people who are accessing it are of legal age to do so. Users have to prove they are over the age of 18 to be able to watch porn. Mindgeek, the company that owns PornHub and YouPorn, has developed a system called AgeID, which redirects the users to a non-pornographic page, where they will then be asked to enter their details. After this, users will then have to give details of a valid driver’s license, passport or credit card.

Once approved, the user will be redirected back to the website where they can then continue to access the adult content.

What happens if adult sites like these don’t use age restricted blocks?

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), the UK’s pornography regulator, claim that there must be firm AgeID procedures in place on every adult content website. For example, if there is merely a “tick if you’re over 18” system on the website, it will not be seen as complying with the law, and that website will then be given a fine of up to £250,000, or a block by all UK internet service providers.

If pornography websites fail to show evidence that they are denying under 18s access to their websites, the BBFC also has a right to block them from use.
