PSA: Hot people can be rapists too

They’re not all old and wrinkly

We've all heard the rape allegations made against Ed Westwick, famous for his role as Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl. And yes, they're unconfirmed and unproven, which is why we're not here to make a judgement.

Ed Westwick has denied everything on his social media, as well as saying he's never even met the accuser. But perhaps the most shocking thing to come from this, are the comments from his fans, which imply it's physically impossible to rape someone if they're hot.

PSA: Old and wrinkly men aren't the only ones capable of rape – everyone is. It doesn't matter if they're young, good-looking, male or female. Anyone is capable of rape.

On the comment section of his Facebook post, the majority of his fans are in disbelief that someone blessed with good looks, could be capable of such a horrible act:

American actor Kristina Cohen, who is far from "unknown", recounted the alleged incident in a Facebook post. But Ed's fans are a loyal bunch, and they're questioning every one of her words. The fans know as little as anyone else, but already they're alleging "inaccuracies" in her story.

Kristina said she took a nap in a room and then was "woken up abruptly" by Ed on top of her. But his fans can't understand why anyone would be put off by this. They're calling her an "unknown attention seeker", hungry for fame and out to ruin his life, even though she graphically described the alleged encounter.

She wrote: "I fought him off as hard as I could but he grabbed my face in his hands, shaking me, telling me he wanted to fuck me. I was paralyzed, terrified. I couldn’t speak, I could no longer move. He held me down and raped me."

It seems people would rather believe their childhood heartthrob is incapable of committing a crime, than even vaguely considering what Cohen has alleged.

This wouldn't happen if Ed Westwick was as old and creepy as, say, Weinstein – who denies that anything non-consensual ever happened with any of his accusers. And it certainly didn't happen when the allegations against Kevin Spacey were made by men.

Of course, Ed is innocent until proven guilty, but why is it that when an attractive young man is accused of rape, people are so quick to jump the gun and blame everything on the accuser?
