If it’s any consolation for losing Beyonce, Lady Gaga is the first woman to headline Coachella in 10 years

Last night it was confirmed that Beyonce will be replaced with Lady Gaga as headline Coachella act, after the former pulled out following her pregnancy announcement.

Although rumored replacements included Daft Punk and Nine Inch Nails, speculators saw Gaga as the obvious replacement given the recent release of Joanne as well as her successful Super Bowl performance, and she confirmed the rumours with a tweet saying: “Let’s party in the desert! x”

The news was divisive to say the least.

But for those in the Beehive who were still holding out hope and are now bitterly disappointed, it’s not all bad news. Gaga’s headlining means she’s broken a decade long streak of male headliners, becoming the first woman to take the top Coachella spot since Bjork headlined in 2007. She’s also second female headliner ever at Coachella (Bjork headlined twice, in 2002 and 2007).

And Beyonce will be returning to the main stage next year, so you just have to wait until 2018 to see her. It’s a win win.
