Stop everything you’re doing at once and watch this trailer for Britney’s Lifetime movie

COME THROUGH, BRITNEY

How mad is it that we’ve got this far in our lives, that we’ve reached 2017 without a movie on the masterpiece that is Britney Spears? When you actually think about it, that’s crazy. How is it that nobody has yet catalogued how iconic and influential she was in our lives?

Well, luckily for everyone, Lifetime – the people who brought us The Brittany Murphy Story and Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor in Liz and Dick – have just released a trailer for their new movie on Queen Spears. Titled Britney Ever After, a lifetime movie event, the trailer chronicles her 2007 breakdown, subsequent fall from grace and hopefully her stratospheric return, when she rose like a beautiful phoenix from the ashes.

  • IMDB bills it as: “A chronicle of the life and career of singer Britney Spears, from humble beginnings on the Mickey Mouse Club to mega stardom, a heavily publicized fall from grace, and a monumental comeback.” It stars Australian actress Natasha Bassett as Britney, boasting a very strange accent and looking really not a lot like Britney.

Yes, sure, the top comment on the trailer on YouTube is: “Couldn’t she at least do the Britney voice a bit?” Of course there will be haters, but look, we’re still getting a Britney movie and that, to be honest, is enough. Even though I cannot stop laughing at this photo of the biopic’s interpretation of N-Sync.

The film will be shown on Lifetime on February 18th in the US and February 26th in the UK.
