ASOS forced to remove a picture of white make-up on a black model’s skin

It was removed when people said it was a ‘whole new level of disrespect’

People are angry at a recent image ASOS used which showed a black model’s arm to show different types of white foundation.

The image, which has now been removed, was of six swatches of foundation on a black woman’s arm, and none of the shades available for sale were remotely similar to her own skin tone.

People accused ASOS of “taking the piss”, saying things like “This is a whole new level of disrespect”, and “Imagine being good enough to be a prop but not to be accommodated to.”

ASOS responded to the Tweets saying: “Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We are looking into getting it removed ASAP. We apologise for any offence caused.”

Asos told Babe: “We are always trying out different ways to showcase products on our site and the colour swatches on models is a new trial in our beauty range.

“We would never want to cause any offense and this feedback will help us get it right.”
