I went a week without a bra as an FF and it was liberating

I’ve never felt so free

Ah the bra. For many a sign of womanhood, finally growing breasts and being able to delve into the wonder world of lingerie. They can be beautiful and sexy, and nothing feels quite as good as wearing matching underwear – but ultimately they’re quite oppressive if you think about it. They are a way to hold your breast into place and are a form of restraint. It’s a concept that’s been around since the Ancient Grecian times where women use to wrap a band of wool or linen to contain their breasts. So I feel like it’s finally time to embrace the braless lifestyle and give boobs some freedom.

The relief of taking your bra off at the end of the day is like no other so I decided to throw away the restraining bra and be free for a week, and I have never felt better. I tried to let my FFs free for a full week, but unfortunately societal constraints – my job – meant that I wasn’t able to comply or take pics for two days while I was at work. The other five days however, were heavenly.

Tuesday – In the office

Work work work work work work

This was the first day braless and I’m not going to lie I felt pretty nervous. I have reasonably large breasts so I very rarely go braless outside of the house so I really did not know what to expect. Turns out nobody gave a fuck. I went for the plain t-shirt as it wasn’t tight so I did not feel as conscious. In all honesty nobody batted an eyelid – the dress code in the office is casual anyway so everyone is pretty dressed down and laid back, and I was surprised and relieved to find it really wasn’t an issue.

Wednesday – With the girls

Gal time

After two days of picture-less grafting it was time to relax with the squad, so I headed to a friend’s house. It was super warm that day so I went for a vest top then a jacket over the top. Instantly I felt very Carrie Bradshaw and I loved it, back in the 90’s/early 2000’s the women had it right. I had nobody to impress and I felt super comfortable, if I was chilling alone at home I wouldn’t wear a bra. As expected my friends did not even notice and even if they did I really don’t think that they would have cared either.

Thursday – Back in the office

Grafting again

I went to for dinner after work today and wanted to look reasonably dressy in my bra-less wonder, so I went for a draped top. It looked surprisingly classy and also hid my freedom pretty well. The top even fell better on me than it usually would as my boobs were usually pushed up and ruining the drape of the top. So really, freeing the nipple was a win win.

Friday – Shopping trip

Spending all my money in Zara

This top looks SO much better without a bra. Bra straps ruin the look of the top so I usually have to go for a strapless bra which is super uncomfortable and either makes my boobs look saggy or too pushed up (I can’t find the perfect strapless bra it’s a life long struggle I face). The top is floaty so again it really isn’t that noticeable so I had unnoticeable freedom to spend as much money in Zara as humanly possible.

Sunday – Going out

Food time

I decided to go all out on the final day, I went for a skin tight jumper to go to the pub in for Sunday lunch. You could tell that I didn’t have a bra on but usually when I wear this top you can see if vague outlines of the bra so I’m not too sure which is worse. By this point I really wasn’t arsed what people thought I was there to eat and nothing is more important than food.

Women are told that if they don’t wear a bra that their boobs will sag and that’s seen to be awful. In reality breasts naturally sag the older you get no matter if you wear a bra 24/7 or if you never wear one, that just life. We are shamed into thinking that it isn’t attractive to not wear a bra under a top and that it is inappropriate but I personally think this look is less sexualised than when I have a push up bra on that means my boobs are under my chin.

Having a week away from the bra won’t kill you, if anything it will give your shoulders a well deserved break.
