Food you have to eat in Guildford this summer
Kokoro is life
For those of you that call Guildford your hometown, it can often be difficult returning summer. You’re back under your parents’ roof where you have to share a car with your younger siblings and you feel out of place wearing your edgiest clothes at MNG.
However as bored as you might be over summer, Guildford does have it’s ups, especially when it comes to food. Steer away from the chain restaurants and you’ll find many a place that you won’t find anywhere else.
Here’s what you should eat:
A burrito from Burrito Loco
They have everything from heavily filled burritos to soft tacos with extra guac. Also find their pop-ups at the Lido and next to the bar at The Legion.
Pizza from Franco Manca
Arguably the best sourdough pizzas this side of Naples. You can also order takeaway.

Souvlaki from Meet the Greek
Is that french fries in a pita wrap? Yes, yes it is.

Chicken katsu curry and sushi from Kokoro
It’s better than Wagamamas, there’s no doubt about that.

Cocktails from Thai Terrace
Who needs a holiday to Thailand when you have the 7th floor of Castle Car Park.

Pancakes from Bills
There’s no better place for breakfast. It’s also incredibly Instagramable.

Jerk chicken from Turtle Bay
Order the curried goat if you’re feeling really adventurous. They have fab cocktails too.
Carbonara from Positano
A hidden Italian gem. The staff are great and the pizzas are also fab.

Tapas from De Nada
Newly opened on market street. Head down for authentic Spanish tortilla and great live music.
A three course meal from The Jetty
Go if you’re feeling fancy, even if it’s just to sit in those yellow seats.

Thai tapas from Giggling Squid
Who would’ve thought thai tapas was a thing? Be sure to order the salt and pepper squid.
A kebab from Nuro
Annoyingly not open late, so you’ll have to leave Casino pretty early. Don’t just go for kebabs though, they have a great menu full of Turkish food.
Scones and tea at The Tea Terrace.
Another Instagram-worthy place. There’s a great lunchtime menu too!
