However, those watching from home are questioning what&#8217;s real and what isn&#8217;t.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judged by Diversity choreographer Ashley Banjo, YouTuber Lele Pons and singer Ne-Yo, and hosted by Pussycat Dolls member Ashley Roberts, the unusual take on a dancing competition brings a show like no other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using avatars on a screen to project performances is now leaving fans confused about if Dance Monsters is real at all. Can the audience see them? Is this a hologram?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/J_nix\/status\/1605267543484145677\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">penned<\/a>: &#8220;I&#8217;m so confused by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/dancemonsters?src=hashtag_click\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">#dancemonsters<\/a> like is the live audience seeing a robot or a projection? Like what is this magic? They dance backstage while hooked up to CGI which then shows as an avatar on a screen that the audience and viewers from home see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The avatar characters bring the dance to life, making each contestant look like they are really on the stage. However, it&#8217;s all a play on our perspective using CGI (computer generated imagery) technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The camera does pan to the contestants so we can see them hooked up to the machines but their face is blurred to protect their identity.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/tudum\/articles\/dance-monsters-release-date-cast-news#:~:text=What%20are%20the%20rules%20of,Monster%20and%20a%20%24250%2C000%20prize.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Netflix<\/a>&nbsp;said that those performing saw a rise in their confidence levels and revealed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The real person behind these monsters has a story explaining why their high-tech disguise has finally given them the confidence to perform for an audience.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>So no, the Dance Monsters contestants aren&#8217;t actually performing on stage as it may appear.
