However, unfortunately, not all of the cases are successful and end up being followed by more issues and complications.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was the case for Ashley Reyes who was on the fifth season of the show. Reyes was a victim of abuse from the age of 12 and began comfort eating as a coping method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ashley also mentioned how her weight was causing problems in her marriage, saying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>It strains my marriage that I can\u2019t be romantic with him, that we can\u2019t express our love the way we want to, but I just don\u2019t want him to see me\u2026.It\u2019s been such a long time that [Daniel] has taken care of me, that I can\u2019t give back.<\/p><cite>Ashely Reyes<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Reyes lost 54lbs very quickly ad was approved for gastric bypass surgery which resulted in her losing a further 106 lbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">watching my 600 lb life makes me so sad bc a lot of them have so much trauma and didn\u2019t have a healthy outlet or support \ud83d\ude41<\/p>&mdash; L \ud83e\ude90 (@huniboy444) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/huniboy444\/status\/1522784077753065472?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 7, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The procedure caused serious psychological effects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It all appeared to be going great for Ashley and after losing around 160lbs she was very hopeful. However, after her surgery, the TLC star began to suffer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 35-year-old began to complain that she was constantly feeling sick, to the point that it was seriously affecting her day-to-day life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When she told Dr Now, she couldn&#8217;t find anything wrong physically with Ashley and so she suggested therapy. Here is where Reyes was diagnosed with food deprivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ashley Feels Like A 30yr Old Child | My 600-lb Life\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6L5IS6WCKUE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where is Ashley now?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ashley is a very determined woman, and despite suffering, she did not give up on her weight loss after the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The star still sticks to a healthy diet and when we saw her the following year in My 600 Lb Life: Where are they now? she had lost a whopping 300 lbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the weight loss had caused her more problems, she opened up on the show about her issues with chaffing and the pain it caused her saying she desperately needed surgery. Ashley explained:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I had gotten up to 700 pounds. And now my body is stretched and disfigured and it\u2019s depressing to see.
