Some might say she was half dead for those days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both of her hips had actually come out of their sockets, but that&#8217;s not the only pain Sue suffered&#8230; She also had bite marks in her skull.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event highlights her incredible strength, as she was forced to treat her own wounds and go back out to kill the bear. Then, she had no choice but to lie in her cabin and recover until medical help arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/blogs\/tv-news\/life-below-zero-sue-aiken-on-bear-attacks-and-retiring-010646587.html\">Yahoo News<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I knew I had a\u00a0juvenile male that was trying to take over my territory. I had no clue. I looked and looked. At the time that he attacked me, I was getting my last pumping of water from the Kavik River before it froze solid. And to do that, I have to put the pump in the river. So I glanced around, glanced around, looked, didn&#8217;t see him anywhere. I had to set the rifle down to pick up the pump and get it in the water. And he ended up\u00a0hiding\u00a0in a little bit of the cut bank and snatched me up.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I love me some Sue <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/LifeBelowZero?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#LifeBelowZero<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Big Lo (@hiimLauren5) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hiimLauren5\/status\/1455744061474672647?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 3, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Sue survived the brutal event<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After being pounced on and dragged across the ground by the\u00a0bear, and feeling its teeth sink into her skull, most would expect her to have died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Sue&#8217;s survival skills kicked in when she had one choice left: play dead and hope that she would not bleed out on the snow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She didn&#8217;t have her usual rifle on her either, as it was lying by a river yards away while the bear mauled at different parts of her body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it wasn&#8217;t a total shock to Sue, as she revealed the event was something she has spent her life expecting to happen, while living alone in the wild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luckily for Sue, the bear dropped back into the river. But if it wasn&#8217;t for her quick acting knowledge and experience, she may not be alive today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She knew she had to sew up her injuries so they would not get infected. She told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/british-woman-tells-horrific-moment-7246325\">The Mirror<\/a> how she looks at life each day:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>If you live my lifestyle, you must be comfortable with your own death.
