Everyone was left pretty shocked after Age of Attraction<\/a>\u2019s Theresa and John confirmed their breakup just six months after the experiment, and although he had already shared his version of the reason behind it, Theresa has now offered a different explanation for their split. So, here\u2019s what actually happened.<\/p>\n

John has been very open about how he sees things<\/a>, and for him, the age gap was a major factor. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly<\/a>, he said, \u201cWe are not together, and age was the factor.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that things changed once they started dating properly after filming. He explained, \u201cShe just felt weird vibes when we were going out. We [dated] for, like, six months after the show, and she just couldn’t take the … I figure, you know, you make a big deal out of [the age gap], it’s a big deal. I felt the whole time that age wasn’t a big deal unless she made it a big deal. It got to us.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also told DC Film Girl<\/a>, \u201cUnfortunately, once we got into the real world, it [age] became an issue and it broke us up.\u201d<\/p>\n

On top of that, he claimed on Viall Files<\/a> that he \u201cdoesn\u2019t deserve someone who texts him saying they feel disgusting when they\u2019re with you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, Theresa has spoken out and her reason is quite different<\/h2>\n

Theresa pointed more towards distance and communication issues rather than just age. She said, \u201cLong distance is really, really hard on a relationship, regardless of age or anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cSo that was certainly a challenge for us. We had some communication issues. There were some things that came up \u2014 some miscommunications.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, speaking on Fire Chats: The Mindfire Pod<\/a>, Theresa also opened up about a specific moment that really affected her during their relationship. She said, \u201cSo about three weeks after we finished filming, we were in New York. And as I say on the reunion, we had drinks with his sister and another cast member. And they’re all significantly younger than me. They’re either in their early 30s. Obviously, we know John’s 27.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cAnd I also know that John’s sister is not the biggest fan of mine. I think she thought that I was high maintenance and a little shady for not being forthright with telling them about my kids and my age and stuff at our lunch, when actually that was just a misunderstanding.\u201d<\/p>\n

Theresa went on to explain how the situation made her feel. She said, \u201cBut at that, at the time when we were having drinks, they were definitely, I felt like really trying to keep me out of the conversation while talking about like age-related things that had to do with like their age group, and it was isolating to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cAnd I just had a really horrible feeling when I left that situation. And I was supposed to go out to dinner with John and his sister. I declined, went back to the hotel, and I just kind of spiralled.\u201d<\/p>\n

Theresa also admitted, \u201cAnd I’m, you know, I’m not gonna lie, obviously dealing with somebody who is that huge of an age difference, like it had weighed on me the entire time of our relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n
