Joe Boyle from Simon Cowell: The Next Act<\/a> may not have made it into the official boyband, December 10, but he did make it into the top 16 on the Netflix<\/a> competition. He’s a 19-year-old singer from Ireland who was super close to reaching the final seven members.<\/p>\n

From Dublin, Joe grew up singing but hadn\u2019t done much performing outside of karaoke. His dad encouraged him to try out despite Joe\u2019s struggle to believe in himself. \u201cPeople from my area don\u2019t do things like this,\u201d he told Simon<\/a> in his audition.<\/p>\n

Despite the initial hesitation, he followed his mantra: \u201cIf you never try, you will never know.\u201d He\u2019s inspired by singer Dermot Kennedy and listens to Irish folk band Kingfishr\u2019s song Killeagh on repeat, but he admits he hates posting videos of himself singing.<\/p>\n
