Ever the trendsetter, the SKIMS queen isn\u2019t just making headlines for her wardrobe this time, she\u2019s sparking a full-on medical debate after calling the procedure “life-changing.”<\/p>\n

Kim Kardashian opts for controversial surgery<\/h2>\n

Taking to Instagram this summer, Kim explained<\/a> that she travelled to Mexico for a treatment using Dezawa Muse stem cells, an experimental regenerative therapy designed to repair damaged tissue, alleviate chronic pain, and restore mobility, per the Economic Times<\/a>. After suffering a debilitating shoulder injury two years ago, she found relief through this treatment and later returned to address longstanding back pain.<\/p>\n

Kim wrote in her IG post: “Two years ago, I tore my shoulder while lifting weights, leaving me in debilitating pain. I tried everything to find relief, then I learned about the potential of stem cell therapy and met Dr. Adeel Khan at Eterna. His team treated my shoulder with Dezawa Muse cells\u2122\ufe0f, and the results were immediate. I regained full range of motion, and my shoulder has felt completely normal ever since…”<\/p>\n

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) hasn\u2019t approved this type of stem cell therapy in the US, citing insufficient clinical evidence, safety concerns, and a lack of regulatory oversight. Basically, it’s banned on American turf.<\/p>\n

Unlike her usual red-carpet excursions, this trip out of the US had a clear purpose: healing. Via IG, Kim recounted her journey, saying: “I had to travel to Mexico to be treated by Dr Khan\u2019s team,” and expressed deep gratitude for the outcome and the possibility of future scientific advancement making such therapies more widely available.<\/p>\n

Kim’s treatment is pretty pricey<\/h2>\n

Apparently, the Kardashians<\/a> star’s treatment could cost anywhere between $4,000 and $15,000, depending on the treatment’s complexity and treated area, per Global Stem Cell Therapy<\/a>.<\/p>\n
