Brittany, a former participant on TLC\u2019s My Strange Addiction<\/a>, shocked viewers with her unusual compulsion: eating chunks of foam from car seats. But, after over twenty years of this jaw-dropping habit, she went foam\u2011free for nine months, and there was one key reason behind her dramatic shift.<\/p>\n

Meet My Strange Addiction’s Brittany<\/h2>\n

Around a decade ago, Brittany appeared on My Strange Addiction and shared her habit with the world. On the TLC show, she described how she would chew on foam from car seats and upholstery, sometimes carrying foam in her purse and snacking on it throughout the day.<\/span><\/p>\n

In one scene, she said: “…it’s fragrant, it’s ripe, my mouth salivates…” as she tore up pieces of foam from her couch with her hands.<\/p>\n

By the time TLC<\/a> caught up with her again, Brittany explained she’d been eating car seat foam for a whopping 20 years.<\/p>\n

At this point, we see her visiting her OBGYN after her family held an intervention and said she should visit a doctor for some help relating to her addiction.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Dr Cole on the show, Brittany said: “My family has been worried and they think that I need to come see a doctor because I eat non-digestible materials… so I pretty much eat foam, the cushion out of couches and cars.”<\/p>\n

Brittany admitted that she ate foam “at least four to five times a day,” before adding: “There’s a piece in my mouth right now.”<\/p>\n
