The dramatic split between Chris and Huda during the Love Island USA<\/a> finale was genuinely one of the most tense and unexpected moments of the whole series.<\/p>\n

However, according to Chris, viewers weren’t actually shown everything that went down between them, as he revealed all to Us Weekly<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Chris explained: “Honestly, I didn\u2019t know the breakup would be blown up the way it did. I still have my phone buzzing every day. The memes are really funny.<\/p>\n

“But just the reasoning behind it for everybody is catching me off guard just because it\u2019s not the real reason.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the episode, Huda told Chris she no longer wanted to be with him, following which he left the table and upon his return told her he refused to carry her back through the water.<\/p>\n

However, Chris revealed the real reason why he even left the table in the first place, and it’s not for the reason we were shown.<\/p>\n

He clarified: “When I came back and asked her why she was crying, I didn\u2019t know she was going to still be there sitting and crying.<\/p>\n

“Because once the conversation ended, we were both ready to get up and go. That is why I got up and left. I came back and I asked her why she was crying and [she explained].<\/p>\n

“I said, \u2018OK, I clearly understand where you\u2019re coming from but it was your decision to make. So, just stand on that.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Chris also claims that he didn’t immediately refuse to carry Huda back, justifying: “She was basically giving me a choice, like, \u2018Are you gonna carry me? Are you going to make me walk?\u2019<\/p>\n

“It kind of just rubbed me the wrong way because, of course, I\u2019m a gentleman,\u201d he said. \u201cBut I\u2019m not going to fall into you trying to make me fold again to give you some type of treatment. Yes, we\u2019re friends and I could\u2019ve given her a piggyback ride.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI tried to help her down but if she wasn\u2019t getting carried then she didn\u2019t want to be helped at all. That is why I walked away.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, despite what Chris claims it seems Huda didn’t exactly see things that way, saying: “He did not want to do that. Let\u2019s be real here. That man did not want [to carry me or help me].\u201d<\/p>\n
