2018 Met Gala actually ended up solving a decades long ancient Egyptian mystery, and yes I&#8217;m being 100 per cent serious.<\/p>\n<p>During the Met Gala, photographer Landon Nordeman took a picture of Kim Kardashian standing next to the ancient Egyptian coffin of Nedjemankh, a priest of the ram-god Heryshaf.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"tr\">Kim Kardashian charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The ancient Egyptian coffin was dug up in 2011 following a revolution, and was spotted by a former smuggler who realised they were never paid for the discovery of the coffin, despite it being sold to the Met for $4 million.<\/p>\n<p>The picture of the coffin was sent to\u00a0Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Matthew Bogdanos, who was investigating the illegal antiques trade.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hyperallergic.com\/737317\/district-attorneys-office-seizes-allegedly-looted-antiquities-from-the-met\/\">Matthew told The Times<\/a> that there&#8217;s &#8220;no honour among thieves,\u201d adding that his office &#8220;had proved that the gold coffin was looted from Egypt by members of an international antiquities-trafficking class=\"wp-caption-text\">Via HitchLens<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He added: &#8220;This office seized material connected to the Germany-based antiquities dealers Roben Galel Dib and Serop Simonian.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth Dib and Serop Simonian have previously been the subject of criminal investigations in multiple countries resulting in the seizure of hundreds of pieces of stolen cultural property.<\/p>\n<p>He continued, explaining that the coffin seen in the picture of Kim Kardashian from the Met Gala proved the ancient artifact had been stolen.<\/p>\n<p>He explained: \u201cThe material this office obtained consisted of thousands of images and videos \u2014 many of which depicted dirty or damaged antiquities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis material included six images of an object that this office later determined to be the gold coffin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The coffin was then returned to Cairo in 2019, with the Met&#8217;s director, Max Hollein, explaining that the museum would make sure they &#8220;learn from this event&#8221; and would look into their acquisitions policy to &#8220;understand what more can be done to prevent such events in the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><i
