Dina Lupancu left Grant a little disappointed on The Bachelor<\/a> when she revealed he wouldn’t be able to meet any of her family as a result of her pastor father disapproving of a man starting out by dating 25 women.<\/p>\n

However, the explanation was fairly brief on the show, but now Dina has told Parade<\/a> exactly why her family didn’t want to meet Grant on The Bachelor.<\/p>\n

She explained: “I think the focal point of the hometown episode was the fact that my family wasn\u2019t there.\u00a0My dad was actually for it. He thought that it was an interesting experiment; it intrigued him.<\/p>\n

“But he [later] claimed that he didn\u2019t know that there was an engagement at the end. He was like, \u2018How could a guy go from dating 25 girls in such a short period of time, and make that type of commitment at the end of this?\u2019<\/p>\n

“It just didn\u2019t sit well with him, and also, he wasn\u2019t actually familiar with the dynamics of the show. He didn\u2019t realize that there was a camera the whole time.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: “In his mind, he\u2019s like, \u2018I\u2019m this figure in the church.’ And it\u2019s important that he keeps a certain example for other families. So he thought the show was something it wasn\u2019t, and that\u2019s my fault for not explaining it.<\/p>\n

“I kind of told [my dad] the basics. \u2018It\u2019s a guy, and he\u2019s a great guy, and he\u2019s got this and that going for him, and he\u2019s just looking for his person, and it\u2019s a little bit of an experiment.’ I might have glossed over the engagement part.<\/p>\n

“I know I told him, but we weren\u2019t going into great detail. He was like, \u2018Oh, yeah, that sounds great. You\u2019re going to be able to have an adventure and learn a lot about yourself. Hopefully, you come home really happy with a man.\u2019”<\/p>\n

Dina admitted that, ultimately, she just “didn’t prepare them enough” for what appearing on The Bachelor and meeting Grant would entail.<\/p>\n

Her mother also didn’t want to appear on the show for another reason, with Dina revealing: “My mom didn\u2019t want to be on TV. That was a big one for her.<\/p>\n

“She didn\u2019t want to expose herself in that way. She\u2019s a mother of 11 kids. She went through a lot in life, and she\u2019s like, \u2018I don\u2019t need to be put through one more [thing].\u2019<\/p>\n

“For her, this would be the biggest hurdle. It\u2019s so exposing for yourself and your family, and she was not happy about it. She wants me married, though, so that part, she was like, \u2018Listen, if you find your man, more power to you.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
