So, how much do they make?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is set on the Atchafalaya Basin, in Louisiana, where the cast members take to the swamp and hunt alligators during the 30-day season.<\/p>\n<p>Occasionally, the hunters catch alligators as big as 12 foot, which proves to be quite the struggle to get into the boat.<\/p>\n<p>We looked into how much alligator hunters make, plus the salary that the <em>Swamp People<\/em> cast make while filming the show&#8230;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-much-do-alligator-hunters-make\">How much do alligator hunters make?<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"inline-links\">\n<li><svg width=\"20\" height=\"20\"><use href=\"#list-arrow-svg\"><\/use><\/svg>Less than $20 &#8211; $40 per foot of unprocessed alligator<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wwno.org\/post\/alligator-hunters-louisiana-its-not-about-money\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Reportedly,<\/a> Louisiana alligator hunters used to make between $20 \u2013 $40 per foot of unprocessed alligator.<\/p>\n<p>However, in 2017 and 2018 there was increased competition coming from overseas and this caused gator sales to drop to an all-time low.<\/p>\n<p>It is thought that fewer people are out hunting, which has led to a below-average alligator harvest in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>The cast of <em>Swamp People<\/em> have the added benefits of earning at least $10,000 per episode, with some cast members earning $25,000.<\/p>\n<div class=\"see-more-wrapper lazy\" data-src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\"><input type=\"checkbox\" id=\"embed_99986_1\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"see-more twitter\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Hello swamp friends! Those appearing on Swamp People are all registered and licensed to catch alligators. <\/p>\n<p>Swamp People have the tags necessary to allow them to make hunting gators their job, which takes up 30 days of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The alligator hides are used in a variety of luxury goods such as shoes, belts, suitcases and leather. As a result, Swamp People can make lots of money by selling the alligators after catching them.<\/p>\n<p>There is a rule according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alligatorfur.com\/hide.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">The Louisiana Alligator Advisory Council<\/a> that you have to tag an alligator after catching it.
