The very final scene at the end of Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story sees Aileen Wuornos<\/a> being ushered into the afterlife by Lizzie Borden and Bridget \u201cMaggie\u201d Sullivan<\/a>, and now the co-creator of the Netflix series has explained why. <\/span><\/p>\n

The real-life serial killer Aileen Wuornos is portrayed by Sarah Paulson in the latest installment of Ryan Murphy<\/a> and Ian Brennan\u2019s true crime<\/a> show, and she\u2019s shown to have an obsession with the life and (alleged) crimes of Lizzie Borden. <\/span><\/p>\n

But the truth is there\u2019s no historical evidence that Aileen ever mentioned Lizzie<\/a> throughout her life, which came to an end in 2002, when she was killed by lethal injection after being convicted of the murders of seven men between 1989 and 1990. <\/span><\/p>\n

Lizzie, meanwhile, was accused of killing her father Andrew<\/a> and stepmother Abby in 1982, although she was acquitted the following year. The reason their stories are tied together in Monster is due to the wider theme explored throughout the season: female rage. <\/span><\/p>\n
