As expected, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story takes some *ahem* creative liberties with the case. Rather than an Irish live-in maid, Bridget \u201cMaggie\u201d Sullivan is reimagined as a mysterious, worldly woman who arrives at the Borden household with a very unexpected accessory: a wooden dildo. <\/span><\/p>\n

Following on from Jeffrey Dahmer, the Menendez brothers<\/a> and Ed Gein<\/a>, Netflix\u2019s Monster has gone further back in time for its fourth installment, focusing on one of America\u2019s most infamous unsolved true crime cases. <\/span><\/p>\n

In August 1892, Lizzie\u2019s father and stepmother, Andrew and Abby Borden, were brutally killed at their home in Fall River, Massachusetts, with a hatchet. Although suspicions fell on Lizzie and she was tried, due to a lack of evidence, she was acquitted – and no one was ever charged.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bridget – or Maggie, as she was known by Lizzie and her sister Emma – was a 26-year-old Irish immigrant who had worked as the Borden family\u2019s live-in maid for nearly three years by the time of the murders.<\/span><\/p>\n
