Sydney Sweeney has seemingly responded to the backlash surrounding her new Novig sports advert, and it completely misses the point.<\/p>\n
The Euphoria actress has been facing criticism since the launch of Novig\u2019s \u201cJust Sports\u201d campaign. In the advert, released on 9 September, Sydney Sweeney<\/a> appears nude throughout much of the campaign, using footballs, basketballs, tennis equipment, hockey gear and other sporting props to cover herself.<\/p>\n At one point, she tells viewers, \u201cThink you know sports? Prove it. Novig is just sports. So they wanted to show just sports.\u201d<\/p>\n The campaign is deliberately cheeky. That much is clear. And Sydney has defended the idea herself. Speaking to Complex<\/a>, she called it \u201ca very simple and playful idea\u201d which was designed to \u201creally bring the concept of \u2018just sports\u2019 to life\u201d.<\/p>\n She also said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, \u201cThe campaign was about embracing a fun idea. The concept is simple: Cut through the noise and put the focus entirely on sports. The campaign brings that idea to life with confidence, humour and a playful edge.\u201d<\/p>\n Since the advert was released, female athletes have criticised the campaign.
