After what happened to Horace in season 3, Ricco Ross has revealed that his character was originally supposed to die at the end of season 1, but there\u2019s actually a very good reason he wasn\u2019t killed off.<\/p>\n

Horace Bellarie has become one of the most complicated characters<\/a> in Beauty in Black. He can be horrible, surprisingly caring, intimidating, funny and, especially in season 3, a lot more complicated than viewers probably expected.<\/p>\n

But we almost didn\u2019t get all of that. Ricco Ross, who plays Horace, has revealed that his character was originally written to die at the end of season one.<\/p>\n

Speaking to TV Line<\/a>, Ross explained, \u201cWhen I first got my contract, it only guaranteed me five episodes. That was it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cThe way the series was written, Horace died at the end of season 1 and you were never supposed to see him again. He would be gone and Kimmie was going to take over.\u201d<\/p>\n

But then Tyler Perry saw something in the character that made him completely rethink the plan. The cast had filmed a tense boardroom scene involving Horace and Norman. After the scene, Perry watched the footage with the cast and crew. And apparently, something clicked.<\/p>\n

Ross recalled, \u201cTyler Perry finally cut, because he does take very long cuts, and he walked in and told us all to look at the monitor. There were about 50 people standing around watching the scene we had just shot. And Tyler looked at all of us and said, \u2018That doesn\u2019t happen. We\u2019ve got something special here.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cAnd then he pulled me aside and said he was distracted. He said, \u2018I had a hard time focusing on the scene because I was thinking that I can\u2019t kill Horace off. And I love killing off characters!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

I’m so glad that he did because we wouldn\u2019t have seen all the growth and intensity of Horace as a character if he had been killed off. <\/p>\n

But after that Beauty in Black<\/a> season 3 ending, there\u2019s a chance he could actually die<\/a>. Who knows? We\u2019ll have to wait and see what happens in season 4.<\/p>\n
