Even though it doesn\u2019t have a post-credits scene, there\u2019s a reason to stay in your seat after the <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/tag\/film\/\">film<\/a> ends.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Directed by Dave Green, Coyote vs. Acme is a live-action animation hybrid that puts a genius meta spin on decades of Looney Tunes history.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taking place in a world where cartoon characters and humans co-exist, the story centres on the iconic Wile E. Coyote, who decides he\u2019s finally had enough of being blown up, flattened and maimed by defective Acme products in his never-ending pursuit of the Road Runner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After spotting an ad, he hires down-on-his-luck lawyer Kevin Avery (Will Forte) to sue the Acme Corporation, putting them up against the company\u2019s slick attorney Buddy Crane (John Cena).&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We won\u2019t spoil anything else here, but just expect plenty more Looney Tunes icons to make an appearance, and know that you\u2019re in for a fun ride. Just ask the critics, who awarded it 95% on <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/2025\/09\/10\/what-to-watch-next-these-2025-films-debuted-with-a-perfect-100-per-cent-on-rotten-tomatoes\/\">Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And you may want to stick around to the end, as there\u2019s a special message and it has everything to do with the years-long controversy surrounding the film\u2019s release.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Is there a Coyote vs. Acme post-credits scene?<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8331\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8331\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8331\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.filmshrine.com\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2-18.jpg\" alt=\"Wile E. That said, there is a message thanking the audience for saving the movie.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It appears right near the very end of the closing credits, saying, \u201cDedicated to everyone who posted, shared, held up signs, and spoke out when it counted. This film made it to the big screen because of you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is particularly poignant given the history of Coyote vs. Acme. You see, development on the film started all the way back in 2018 at Warner Bros. Pictures, with cast and crew gradually being fleshed out in the following years.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite being completed on a reported $70 million budget and receiving positive test scores, Warner Bros. announced in November 2023 that it would shelve the movie entirely rather than release it, with the studio taking a $30 million tax write-off.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the time, this marked the third movie the David Zaslav-run company pulled the plug on for this reason, following on from <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/tag\/dc\/\">Batgirl<\/a> and Scoob! Holiday Haunt.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The fan who protested outside Warner Bros. to save \u2018Coyote Vs. Acme\u2019 has finally revealed his identity.<\/p>\n<p>His name is Marco. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Wvpr1Gocpa\">pic.twitter.com\/Wvpr1Gocpa<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; ToonHive (@ToonHive) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ToonHive\/status\/2092807278927790463?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 27, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The decision sparked a huge backlash across Hollywood and among Looney Tunes fans, with filmmakers including Christopher Miller, Phil Lord, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert publicly supporting the film.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Iconic Looney Tunes voice actor Eric Bauza helped push the #ReleaseCoyoteVsAcme campaign, even calling for its release while in character at the Annie Awards.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When it came to the fans, they shared posts, held signs and even protested outside Warner Bros.\u2019 headquarters, with one particularly dedicated supporter dressing as Wile E. Coyote while holding a \u201cRelease Me!\u201d sign.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And the backlash appeared to work. Warner Bros. reversed course enough to allow the filmmakers to shop the movie elsewhere, with Netflix, Amazon and Paramount among those interested.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then came another blow: Warner Bros. reportedly wanted around $75-80 million for the film and ultimately rejected offers from prospective buyers, once again leaving its future looking bleak.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Against all odds, Coyote vs. Acme was finally saved<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The campaign continued with hope dwindling, but everything changed in March 2025 when indie company Ketchup Entertainment acquired the worldwide rights for a reported $50 million.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Coyote vs. ACME | Official Trailer\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/H-43VeYGiPM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At long last, Coyote vs. Acme secured the theatrical release fans had spent so long campaigning for.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perhaps nobody sums up how bizarre the whole saga was better than Forte.
