She passed away at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the world mourns one of the most beloved entertainers and cultural icons of all time, whose influence stretched far beyond country music, tributes have poured in far and wide from fans and celebrities alike.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But one message that hasn\u2019t gone down well is from the <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/tag\/harry-potter\/\">Harry Potter<\/a> author, who has come under fire in recent years for her <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/2026\/08\/10\/harry-potter-bel-powley-tries-to-separate-jk-rowling-from-franchise-hbo-show-reaction\/\">views on gender and trans rights<\/a>. She also collaborated with goddaughter Miley Cyrus on \u2018Rainbowland\u2019, a song celebrating acceptance and the freedom to be yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But Parton was equally outspoken away from her music. Over the years, she repeatedly defended LGBTQ+ people and same-sex marriage, while opposing discrimination.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When Tennessee passed a bill that targeted trans people in 2023, she told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/general-news\/dolly-parton-interview-new-album-rockstar-superbowl-halftime-show-1235634785\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cWell, what I always say, &#8216;I just want everybody to be treated good.\u2019 I have some of everybody in my own immediate family and in my circle of employees\u2026 I know and love them all, and I do not judge.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Dolly Parton defends the LGBT community: <\/p>\n<p>I do not believe that we should criticize and judge other people.
