And, erm, she\u2019s pointed out a pretty uncomfortable detail shippers may have overlooked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outer Banks has returned for its fifth and final season on <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/tag\/netflix\/\">Netflix<\/a>, picking up in the aftermath of JJ\u2019s (Rudy Pankow) brutal death at the end of season four. The Pogues are grieving their best friend while hunting down Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane), who killed his own son and escaped with the Blue Crown.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Outer Banks: Season 5 | Official Trailer | Netflix\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lb3fvMJMadk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But alongside all the treasure hunting and revenge, there\u2019s another question that has long been asked: what, if anything, is going on between Rafe (Drew Starkey) and Kiara, aka Kie?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite spending much of the show on opposing sides &#8211; and Rafe having his own complicated relationship with Sofia (Fiona Palomo) &#8211; there\u2019s a surprisingly huge section of the fandom that\u2019s been shipping Rafe and Kie for years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speculation really took off in season three, when they were kidnapped and trapped together in Barbados. But some viewers have taken this even further, theorising there may have been history between the two before we ever met them in season one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s not entirely impossible to see where the theory came from. But for any of those wondering whether something happened between the pair <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">before<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the events of the show, here\u2019s your answer\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Madison Bailey has now addressed *that* Rafe and Kiara theory<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A number of the Outer Banks cast members spoke with Brit + Co, where Bailey was specifically asked about the longstanding theory that something could have happened between Rafe and Kie during her \u201cKook era\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey &amp; Carlacia Grant Talk MAJOR Outer Banks 5 Spoilers (and Rafe &amp; Kiara)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jKdwWEpLss8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apparently, shippers really have been reading too much into it. \u201cNo, I don\u2019t think that there was anything between Rafe and Kiara in her little Kook era because he was just so much older,\u201d Bailey said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While Rafe is only around three years older, she pointed out that the difference is significant when you\u2019re talking about teenagers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOur age is one thing. Three years when you\u2019re like 16, those are big,\u201d she explained.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So there you have it: according to the person who has played Kie for all five seasons, there wasn\u2019t some secret Riara romance happening before we arrived in the Outer Banks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That said, she isn\u2019t exactly telling the fandom to pack it up and go home either. After the interviewer acknowledged that the pairing has always been a \u201cvery hot topic\u201d among fans, Bailey laughed and added: \u201cI support whatever\u2026 everyone\u2019s
