As a girl in my early 20s, Andrew Garfield was my first Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire is pure nostalgia, and <a href=\"http:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/tag\/tom-holland\/\">Tom Holland<\/a>&#8216;s journey has taken a direction I&#8217;ve really wanted to see.<\/p>\n<p>So, here&#8217;s my ranking of all the <a href=\"http:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/tag\/spider-man\/\">Spider-Man<\/a> movies, including Brand New Day, based on the characters, emotions, suits, action, nostalgia and, most importantly, how much each one feels like Spider-Man.<\/p>\n<h2>11. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 - Official Trailer (HD)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nbp3Ra3Yp74?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There is a good Spider-Man movie buried somewhere in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but there is simply too much going on. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are great, but Electro, Green Goblin, Rhino, Peter&#8217;s parents, Oscorp and the Sinister Six setup make the story feel overcrowded.<\/p>\n<p>And, of course, this is where Gwen Stacy died and traumatised us for life. Her death is genuinely heartbreaking, and I still wish Andrew had been given another movie because his version of Spider-Man deserved a better ending.<\/p>\n<h2>10. Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME - Official Trailer\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Nt9L1jCKGnE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Far From Home is fun, but it is where Tom Holland&#8217;s Spider-Man started to feel less independent to me. Peter is dealing with the pressure left behind by Tony Stark while also facing Mysterio, played by Jake Gyllenhaal.<\/p>\n<p>The illusion sequences are fantastic, but the film feels more connected to the wider MCU than to Peter&#8217;s own story. It&#8217;s entertaining, but it doesn&#8217;t have the same emotional impact as the other movies.<\/p>\n<h2>9. Spider-Man 3 (2007)<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SPIDER-MAN 3 [2007] - Official Trailer (HD)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/e5wUilOeOmg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Spider-Man 3 is messy, with too many villains and storylines competing for attention. Venom especially feels underdeveloped.<\/p>\n<p>But the black suit is still one of my favourite Spider-Man designs ever. Watching Peter become darker and more arrogant while wearing it is genuinely fun, and the Harry and Sandman storylines have some great emotional moments.<\/p>\n<p>It could have been much better with a more focused story, but I&#8217;ll always have a soft spot for it.<\/p>\n<h2>8. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING - Official Trailer (HD)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rk-dF1lIbIg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Homecoming is fun and a good enough introduction to Tom Holland&#8217;s Peter Parker. He&#8217;s young, awkward and still trying to figure out how to balance being Spider-Man with being a normal teenager.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Keaton&#8217;s Vulture is also a strong villain, and I love the smaller scale. Peter is trying to protect his neighbourhood rather than save the entire universe.<\/p>\n<p>The only thing holding it back for me is how dependent Peter still feels on Tony Stark.<\/p>\n<h2>7. Spider-Man (2002)<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SPIDER-MAN [2002] \u2013 Official Trailer (HD)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/t06RUxPbp_c?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Tobey Maguire&#8217;s Spider-Man is pure nostalgia. The upside-down kiss, Green Goblin, Uncle Ben, J. Jonah Jameson, the original suit and that early-2000s atmosphere are all iconic. It also deserves credit for proving that Spider-Man could carry a huge superhero franchise.<\/p>\n<p>Some parts have aged, but I don&#8217;t care. This is one of those films that will always feel like Spider-Man to me.<\/p>\n<h2>6. Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY \u2013 New Trailer (4K)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/62bIsvRcPv0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve always liked Tom Holland&#8217;s Spider-Man, but I wanted more of Peter simply being Spider-Man. So much of his story has involved the Avengers, Tony Stark, huge battles and the multiverse.<\/p>\n<p>Brand New Day finally gives us more of the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. Peter is on his own, the world doesn&#8217;t remember him, and he&#8217;s dealing with the consequences of everything that happened.<\/p>\n<p>I love seeing him actually struggle with being Spider-Man. It feels more personal and grounded, and that&#8217;s exactly what I&#8217;ve wanted from Tom&#8217;s version.<\/p>\n<h2>5. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE - Official Trailer (HD)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cqGjhVJWtEg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The animation is incredible, and somehow it manages to be even more ambitious than Into the Spider-Verse. Miles is no longer just learning how to be Spider-Man. He&#8217;s actually figuring out what kind of Spider-Man he wants to be. The Spider-Society, Miguel O&#8217;Hara, Gwen and Miles&#8217; relationship with his parents give the story plenty of depth.<\/p>\n<p>My only issue is that it ends on a cliffhanger, so it doesn&#8217;t quite feel complete on its own.<\/p>\n<h2>4. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3D - Official Trailer\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-tnxzJ0SSOw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Yes, I know this is probably higher than most people would put it. But Andrew Garfield was my first Spider-Man, and I love this movie. His Peter is funny, awkward, angry and emotional, and Garfield is brilliant in the suit. Then there&#8217;s Gwen. Garfield and Emma Stone have incredible chemistry, and their relationship gives the movie a much more emotional centre.<\/p>\n<p>The Lizard isn&#8217;t my favourite villain, and the film does revisit an origin story we&#8217;d already seen, but Andrew&#8217;s Spider-Man will always be my Spider-Man.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Spider-Man 2 (2004)<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SPIDER-MAN 2 Trailer (2004)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1s9Yln0YwCw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Objectively, Spider-Man 2 could easily be number one. Peter is struggling financially, emotionally and personally, while questioning whether being Spider-Man is worth the sacrifice. That&#8217;s what makes it feel so true to the character.<\/p>\n<p>Alfred Molina&#8217;s Doctor Octopus is fantastic, and the train sequence is still one of the best superhero action scenes ever made. I rank it thrid, but I would totally understand anyone putting this at number one.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE - Official Trailer (HD)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/g4Hbz2jLxvQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This movie is amazing. The animation, soundtrack, humour and emotion all work perfectly together, and Miles Morales is one of the best new Spider-Man characters we&#8217;ve had.<\/p>\n<p>What I love most is the idea that Spider-Man doesn&#8217;t have to be one specific person. Anyone can wear the mask. With a 97 per cent critics score, it is also the highest-rated Spider-Man movie on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/spider_man_into_the_spider_verse\">Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>1. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME - Official Trailer (HD)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JfVOs4VSpmA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This one was always going to be number one. Tobey Maguire. Andrew Garfield. Tom Holland. Green Goblin. Doctor Octopus. Electro. Sandman. The Lizard. Somehow, No Way Home manages to fit all of that into a genuinely emotional Spider-Man story.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing Andrew get another chance to save someone after losing Gwen was heartbreaking. Tobey returning as an older Spider-Man was perfect. And Tom losing Aunt May and ultimately sacrificing his life with MJ and Ned was devastating.<\/p>\n<p>The three Spider-Men fighting together is still one of the coolest moments in superhero cinema.
