{"id":7311,"date":"2026-08-05T13:08:05","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T12:08:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/?p=7311"},"modified":"2026-08-05T13:08:05","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T12:08:05","slug":"spider-man-brand-new-day-why-tom-hollands-bath-scene-was-nightmare-to-film-feet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/2026\/08\/05\/spider-man-brand-new-day-why-tom-hollands-bath-scene-was-nightmare-to-film-feet\/","title":{"rendered":"Eek, Tom Holland&#8217;s nude Spider-Man: Brand New Day bath scene was a nightmare to film"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019ve watched Spider-Man: Brand New Day, one scene in particular had you no doubt thinking, \u201cFor free?!\u201d Yes, <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/tag\/tom-holland\/\">Tom Holland\u2019s<\/a> Peter Parker\u2019s feet get airtime, and apparently it wasn\u2019t the easiest scene to film.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Weeks before the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/tag\/marvel\/\">Marvel<\/a> movie swung into cinemas, there were talks of a <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/2026\/07\/03\/theres-been-new-spider-man-brand-new-day-rumour-involving-tom-holland-and-its-super-nsfw\/\">NSFW scene between Spidey<\/a> and Florence Pugh\u2019s Yelena Belova, and now it all makes sense.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Early on in <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/2026\/08\/03\/spider-man-just-made-a-huge-mistake-in-brand-new-day-and-it-could-change-the-x-men-forever\/\">Brand New Day<\/a>, Peter needs help with the mind-controlling opponent, and so he goes to see Yelena in her \u201coffice\u201d &#8211; a Russian bathhouse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yelena is completely naked when he arrives, (of course, nothing is shown from the shoulders down), and before agreeing to help, she orders him to strip down and join her.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">spiderman brand new day spoilers<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>LOOK AT HIS BIG ASS TOES <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jmNkAjJ0RJ\">pic.twitter.com\/jmNkAjJ0RJ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; ally saw spiderman \ud83d\udd77 | bnd spoilers (@BDupaincheng) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BDupaincheng\/status\/2083198985272267225?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 31, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Partly because of bathhouse etiquette, partly to ensure he doesn\u2019t have any weapons, and maybe 5% of her just enjoys seeing him squirm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He obliges, although keeps his mask and boxers on. When they finally get down to business, Yelena suggests it\u2019s not mind control but &#8220;possession&#8221;, and while they\u2019re talking, Peter\u2019s feet float to the surface of the water.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The unexpected moment has sparked plenty of discussion and memes. \u201cLOOK AT HIS BIG ASS TOES,\u201d wrote one X user, while another said, \u201cI think that one scene was just an excuse to show Tom Holland\u2019s feet.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s even started a trend on TikTok where people are putting their feet up towards the cinema screen right at the end and taking a picture, resulting in a photo that shows the shadow of the person\u2019s splayed-out digits.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Why the scene was a pain to shoot<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7315\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7315\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7315\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.filmshrine.com\/uploads\/2026\/08\/38-1.jpg\" alt=\"Florence Pugh as Yelena\" width=\"1200\" height=\"630\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.filmshrine.com\/uploads\/2026\/08\/38-1.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/cdn.filmshrine.com\/uploads\/2026\/08\/38-1-1024x538.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cdn.filmshrine.com\/uploads\/2026\/08\/38-1-768x403.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7315\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Disney<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Given all of the action packed sequences in <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/2026\/08\/04\/best-way-to-watch-spider-man-brand-new-day-after-imax-release\/\">Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/a>, you might assume this scene was the easiest to shoot &#8211; but according to Holland, it was anything but.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You see, the actor has a <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/tag\/spider-man\/\">Spider-Man<\/a> symbol tattooed on the bottom of his right foot, which he got to celebrate bagging the role many years ago. Little did he realise that it would cause issues for the team further down the line.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For Brand New Day, the VFX team was forced to digitally remove the tattoo. \u201cI have a tattoo, and a fun little story is that it&#8217;s on the bottom of my foot, it\u2019s the Spider-Man emblem from the first movie. I have it all across the bottom of my foot,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;And there&#8217;s a scene in the movie where I have no clothes on, and I\u2019m hanging off the side of a building. It was very awkward to film. In a conversation with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/tom-holland-dehydration-prep-shirtless-spider-man-brand-new-day-bathhouse-scene-12030966\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entertainment Weekly<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the actor said that, knowing he was about to be shirtless, he avoided drinking water the day before filming to try and look more ripped. But it didn\u2019t quite work out\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBesides absolutely loving working with Florence and the scene going incredibly smoothly and her being the funniest person in the room, I had tried to do that stupid dehydration thing for that scene, where I didn\u2019t drink any water the day before and then I drank loads of water the day before that,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI tried to see if it would make a difference, and the only thing it did is it just made me really
