The <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Frederick County Sheriff&#8217;s Office has since revealed that the 19-year-old actress was the only fatality in the single vehicle collision, which is currently under investigation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tributes continue to pour in for the late star, who made her acting debut as Jia in Godzilla vs. Kong before reprising the role in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her character, a deaf orphan adopted by Monarch scientist Ilene Andrews (Rebecca Hall), shares a unique bond with Kong and communicates using American Sign Language (ASL).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kaylee was born deaf and comes from a deaf family spanning four generations on <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/2026\/07\/21\/kaylee-hottle-dad-shares-tragic-post-as-godzilla-vs-kong-star-death-confirmed\/\">her father\u2019s<\/a> side. Jia can do many, many amazing things and in this movie, it&#8217;s so much bigger for her, and I think she can do so many better things after this.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Was Kaylee Hottle cast in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although Kaylee had spoken about where she hoped Jia&#8217;s story could go next, she was not among the cast announced for Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, which is currently in production and due to release in March 2027.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jia\u2019s adoptive mother Dr. Ilene Andrews isn\u2019t returning either, with Rebecca Hall announcing that her contract with the franchise had ended and she wouldn\u2019t be reprising her role.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"reddit-embed-bq\" style=\"height:500px\" ><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Monsterverse\/comments\/1l8v6ui\/how_do_we_feel_about_jia_not_coming_back\/\">How do we feel about Jia not coming back?<\/a><br \/> by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/user\/AverageMemeFan\/\">u\/AverageMemeFan<\/a> in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Monsterverse\/\">Monsterverse<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/embed.reddit.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"UTF-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No official reason was given for their characters\u2019 absence, but it appears to be a natural progression, with Supernova set to shift focus away from Kong and give Godzilla more of the spotlight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lack of Jia\u2019s return had already sparked discussion among Monsterverse fans before Kaylee\u2019s death. Over on Reddit,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0one person asked, \u201cHow do we feel about Jia not coming back?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI am quite surprised that this isn\u2019t talked about as much as I thought it would be.
