It’s taken years, but the inevitable has finally happened: Tom Holland<\/a> has met Tom Holland.<\/p>\n

No, not some multiverse Spider-Man plot. We’re talking about Marvel actor Tom Holland and bestselling historian Tom Holland, who finally sat down together for a special episode of The Rest Is History podcast to discuss The Odyssey<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As you’d imagine, one of the first things they discussed was what it’s actually like to share a name with someone much, much more famous. The historian wasted no time poking fun at the situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know my place. And were I the kind of person who regularly Googled himself, I mean, you would have destroyed my ability to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The special episode sees the pair discussing Christopher Nolan<\/a>‘s The Odyssey, with the actor starring in the upcoming film and the historian bringing his expertise on the ancient world to the conversation.<\/p>\n

Their meeting comes just after the historian accidentally had the internet convinced Spider-Man was promoting Christopher Nolan’s latest project. After seeing the film, Tom Holland shared glowing praise on X, writing:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is by some way the best cinematic adaptation of a Greek myth I have ever seen. It honours Homer while simultaneously making something new of him.\u201d<\/p>\n

The problem? Plenty of people only saw the name “Tom Holland” and assumed the post had come from the actor. While some replied with their own reviews, others couldn’t resist pointing out the obvious:\u201cBro, you\u2019re in it.\u201d<\/p>\n

For anyone who’s somehow never come across him before, the other Tom Holland is one of the UK’s best-known historians, authors and broadcasters. He co-hosts The Rest Is History, the hugely successful history podcast produced by Gary Lineker’s Goalhanger, which pulls in more than 25 million monthly streams and was recently named Apple Podcasts’ Show of the Year.<\/p>\n

Search engines, however, are probably still having a nightmare.<\/p>\n
