Following a disastrous Q&amp;A session, where the director clapped back at his critics, he\u2019s now confirmed that the film has received its second ban in his home country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For better or worse, <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/tag\/citizen-vigilante\/\">Citizen Vigilante<\/a> has become a huge talking point since dropping in June. The film was <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/2026\/06\/17\/citizen-vigilante-director-uwe-boll-armie-hammer-movie-makes-wild-claim-banned-germany\/\">denied an age rating in Germany<\/a> over concerns about its anti-immigration and anti-Muslim messaging, with fears it could incite copycat attacks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The latest setback came after Germany\u2019s age rating body once again refused to approve the film for streaming, with Boll announcing, \u201cUnfortunately, we got banned today again.\u201d While it did land the 18 rating for theatrical release, it still can\u2019t be viewed online.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"de\" dir=\"ltr\">Bei Citizen Vigilante spielt der Staat wie immer mit schmutzigen Tricks.<\/p>\n<p>Die FSK-18-Freigabe erfolgte ausschlie\u00dflich f\u00fcr die Kinovorf\u00fchrung. An insider on the actor\u2019s team told Puck\u2019s Matthew Belloni, \u201cThe first time he saw it, he was in tears. He called me and said, \u2018F**k. This is hateful, disgusting.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among the reactionary right, the film is being celebrated, leading Boll to announce plans for <a href=\"https:\/\/thetab.com\/filmshrine\/2026\/06\/30\/tristan-tate-begs-for-role-in-uwe-boll-controversial-citizen-vigilante-2\/\">a sequel<\/a> (he\u2019s currently selling Citizen Vigilante t-shirts to raise funds). But when he took to Reddit for an AMA, it didn\u2019t quite get the response he was looking for\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Uwe Boll lashes out at Citizen Vigilante critics<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5929\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.filmshrine.com\/uploads\/2026\/07\/3.jpg\" alt=\"Armie Hammer in Citizen Vigilante\" width=\"1200\" height=\"630\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.filmshrine.com\/uploads\/2026\/07\/3.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/cdn.filmshrine.com\/uploads\/2026\/07\/3-1024x538.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cdn.filmshrine.com\/uploads\/2026\/07\/3-768x403.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the most part, the questions ripped Boll to shreds. Many brought up the fact that he\u2019s been dubbed the world\u2019s worst director after a series of critical and commercial flops, including Alone in the Dark, BloodRayne, Far Cry, and In the Name of the King.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Initially, it seemed like Boll was unbothered by the questions. \u201cAs a director who is widely renowned for being one of the pre-eminent creators of movies that are so bad they\u2019re bad, which movie would you personally say is your worst?\u201d asked one, to which Boll replied, \u201cBlubberella.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another bluntly wrote, \u201cWhy do you continue to make movies, even after already making some of the worst movies ever?\u201d Boll responded, \u201cTo top them all.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A third asked, \u201cYou once said actors are all little whores. Aren&#8217;t you a whore yourself pleasing right wingers?\u201d And the filmmaker agreed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boll also made a quip about the World of Warcraft movie flopping after one person noted that Blizzard rejected him from making the adaptation, saying: \u201cWe will not sell the movie rights, not to you\u2026 especially not to you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But then another commenter pointed out, \u201cNote, not a single Uwe Boll directed film has a higher ranking than Warcraft\u2019s 29% among critics.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One noted the fact that Boll reportedly utilised a German tax loophole allowing wealthy individuals and corporations to write off 100% of their investments in film productions against their income taxes, meaning it was more profitable to make flops than hits.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The loophole is no longer available, with the Redditor writing, \u201cHi Uwe. How are you financing your movies now, since they plugged the loophole with the tax write-offs?\u201d Boll replied, \u201cGold.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"reddit-embed-bq\" style=\"height:500px\" ><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/movies\/comments\/1umfa10\/hi_reddit_i_am_uwe_boll_ama\/\">Hi reddit. It seemed the filmmaker had an answer for everything, but then he shared a comment slamming his critics.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cGuys, why a lot of you are stuck in the past. You love to hate and trash me,\u201d he said, before urging people to watch his films and \u201copen your eyes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cForget my name and just watch the movies. Look at the ratings at Amazon and you see what the REAL AUDIENCE believes,\u201d he continued.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cYou are so in love of bashing me that you forgot yourself. I wish you all a great evening and now watch soccer in TV instead of wasting my time here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The AMA was locked after just one day, but not before Redditors replied to this message. \u201cYes but they\u2019re all sh*t Uwe,\u201d said one, while another commented, \u201cYour latest movie is just as bad as the old
