Anne Hathaway<\/a> has just been cast in the movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s<\/a> Verity, and people aren’t happy about it.<\/p>\n

The best-selling thriller follows the story of Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer in New York who\u00a0accepts the job offer of a lifetime.<\/p>\n

It’s the second of Hoover’s books to be made into a film, following the huge It Ends With Us<\/a> which was released in August.<\/p>\n

Readers were really unhappy that Blake Lively was cast as Lily Bloom, and the same thing is happening all over again.<\/p>\n

Anne Hathaway has been cast as Verity Crawford<\/h2>\n

It has just been announced that Hollywood icon Anne Hathaway will play Verity Crawford in the upcoming film. Yes, Verity.<\/p>\n

She is the rich and famous author who is unable to finish her successful book series after a mysterious accident. Her husband Jeremy hires Lowen to complete it.<\/p>\n

Colleen Hoover shared the news on Instagram, writing: “@annehathaway as Verity!”<\/p>\n

“Michael Showalter is directing. Verity is coming to theaters, and I am so excited for this cast, the script, the director, and the whole team bringing this to life. Cannot wait.”<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> then confirmed that Hathaway will play the creepy author, which is the last thing anyone expected.<\/p>\n

People are really confused as they think the Princess Diaries icon should have been cast as someone else.<\/p>\n

They love the fact that Anne is in the film, but she would have suited the role of Lowen so much better.<\/p>\n

In the book, Verity is described as a woman with long blonde hair and blue eyes, while Lowen has brown hair and black eyes.<\/p>\n

Hathaway is literally known for her long dark hair and eyes, so the casting is all wrong.<\/p>\n

Baffled Colleen Hoover fanatics have taken to TikTok<\/a> to moan about her character.<\/p>\n

“Wasn\u2019t Verity blonde? I don\u2019t see it,” one person wrote.<\/p>\n

Another said: “Why can’t she be Lowen, that makes way more sense.”<\/p>\n

“Wait she\u2019s Verity?? I was thinking she\u2019s Lowen!” someone else added.<\/p>\n
