DC’s newest superhero film, Supergirl, is allegedly underperforming in early ticket sales, and the misogynistic comments around Milly Alcock are getting worse.<\/p>\n

After the success of Superman last year, there’s been a lot of hype around the new Supergirl film. The heroine made a cameo at the end of the Superman film along with her dog Klondike. But since the film’s press tour began, a lot of hate has been directed at lead actress Milly Alcock<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a red-carpet interview, Milly is asked about the queer undertones of her character in DC Comics. Milly laughs, then gives an answer which has since gone viral.<\/p>\n

“In honour of Pride Month, as I’m getting all these questions… I don’t know, I think what makes this film so beautiful is that it’s not centred around love, it’s not centred around a man at all,’ the actress said.<\/p>\n

This answer immediately sparked widespread backlash on the conservative side of the internet, with people saying she ruined the film and some even calling for her to be recast. At the same time, predictions for the box office performance during the film’s first weekend have been lowered.<\/p>\n
