Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/a> just shared that he was advised he didn’t have the right body for big franchise action films like Maze Runner and Divergent when he was auditioning for films as a younger actor – and said his agent told him he needed to put weight on. Why is Hollywood so grim?<\/p>\n

Speaking in a new interview with Zane Lowe, Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet opened up about the struggles he faced when auditioning for big franchise movies, like Maze Runner and Divergent. \u201cIf I auditioned for The Maze Runner or Divergent, things of that variety that were popping when I was coming up, the feedback was always, \u2018Oh, you don\u2019t have the right body,’\u201d Chalamet said in an interview with Apple Music\u2019s Zane Lowe. \u201cI had an agent that called me and said, \u2018You got to put on weight,\u2019 basically \u2014 not aggressively, but you know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet then went on to explain further how he didn’t follow this guidance about having the ‘right body’, and actually just found his own feet targeting films that were more intimate and personal, like Call Me By Your Name, Little Women, Lady Bird and Beautiful Boy. \u201cThose were smaller budget, but very \u2014 I don\u2019t know how else to put it \u2014 personable movies that started in this theater space. This is where I found my rhythm, my confidence, my flow, whatever you want to call it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Obviously, it’s worked out very nicely for him – with Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet being one of the most bankable actors in Hollywood. Hell, he’s even had his own New York City lookalike competition where he could actually turn up. Chalamet has always played to his own strength rather chasing a Hollywood expectation of leading man, and honestly that’s why I think he’s been so successful.<\/p>\n

And he got a big franchise better than those two with Dune anyway. King shit.<\/p>\n
