*Warning: Major spoilers ahead for The Boys season five finale*<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Soldier Boy was put on ice in the penultimate episode of The Boys<\/a>, but that doesn\u2019t mean Mother\u2019s Milk didn\u2019t get revenge on him. Call it poetic justice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ultimately, The Boys season five episode eight<\/a> – aka the last ever episode of the series – was mostly focused on Butcher and Homelander\u2019s<\/a> years-long rivalry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And in true The Boys fashion, both are dead by the time the finale ends. This leaves all of our main players to move on with their lives. Hughie and Annie get to be together, with Annie visibly pregnant (but still fighting crime).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kimiko heads to France with her new doggy, honouring Frenchie<\/a> as best she can. As for Mother\u2019s Milk, whose story felt a little overshadowed throughout season five, he finally gets the happy ending he\u2019s always wanted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the final montage, we see him remarrying Monique, with their daughter by their side – and there\u2019s another addition to the family.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mother\u2019s Milk got the last laugh<\/h2>\n

After losing his powers in the battle against his father and rejecting a \u201cfresh start\u201d with Butcher, Ryan is seen at Mother\u2019s Milk\u2019s wedding, as he\u2019s now a part of their family.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you think about it, this is revenge but in the most beautiful way: Soldier Boy<\/a> killed MM\u2019s granddad, and now MM is raising Soldier Boy\u2019s grandson. Told you it\u2019s poetic justice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

MM\u2019s entire reason for hating supes is because Vought’s reckless cape-wearers destroyed his family. Decades prior to him joining The Boys, a young Marvin woke up to see Soldier Boy<\/a> fighting crime in Harlem.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Soldier Boy confronted some young thieves and threw a car their way, only for the vehicle to head in the direction of MM\u2019s house. Although it missed him, it killed his grandfather and two other relatives.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not only did this traumatise MM but it destroyed his family. His father became obsessed with documenting supe-related negligence in an attempt to expose Vought, while MM dedicated his entire life to bringing supes down.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just like his dad, his obsession ended up destroying his own family – Monique left him (for a Homelander, no less).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s what makes the finale\u2019s ending feel so full circle. Soldier Boy might not have cared about the destruction he caused, but in the end, he\u2019s on ice, his son is dead, and his own grandson ends up being raised by the man whose family he tore apart.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s one of the changes to the source material that actually makes so much sense. In the comics, not only is Soldier Boy an insignificant character (and a title rather than one single person), but also Mother\u2019s Milk is killed by Butcher as part of his rogue plan to eradicate all supes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thank god the show didn\u2019t go in this direction. After decades of trauma, OCD spirals, and supe-induced misery, he\u2019s one of the few characters who\u2019s genuinely earned a happy ending.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If Soldier Boy ever gets let out of his cryogenic cage, I\u2019d pay good money to see the look on his face when he finds out his entire legacy is no more. It\u2019s definitely <\/span>not<\/span><\/i> what Cara would have wanted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
