The From season three finale answered a lot of questions we had, but there are still so many mysteries for season four to solve, arguably the biggest being who the hell the Man in Yellow actually is.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The MGM+ horror<\/a> series teased the Man in Yellow in season three when Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno) was pushed by the Boy in White (Vox Smith) into the real world, only to find herself at Henry\u2019s home.<\/span><\/p>\n

We soon found out that Henry (Robert Joy) is Victor\u2019s (Scott McCord) father, while his mother is Henry\u2019s late wife Miranda. And before becoming trapped in Fromville, she had visions of the town, which she documented through paintings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As Tabitha looked through the collection, she spotted one of the Man in Yellow. In the season three finale, we met him in person and he\u2019s as terrifying as we\u2019d expected.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Running away from him was an alternate version of Julie (Hannah Cheramy), but he caught up, only to slash current timeline Jim\u2019s (Eion Bailey) throat.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u2019s back with a vengeance in season four, where we soon learn he\u2019s able to shapeshift. He takes on the identity of a religious teenage girl, pretending that her and her priest father are new residents of the town.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Clearly, there\u2019s way more to his story that hasn\u2019t been shown just yet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Even though it was recently announced that From will be ending with season five, we might not find out the Man in Yellow\u2019s true identity until the very end. But a convincing theory has emerged that would change everything about the mysteries of From.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So who is the Man in Yellow?<\/h2>\n

Alongside the fact that in his previous form he wore a yellow suit (surprise, surprise), we know that the Man in Yellow is the main antagonist and can shapeshift. Right now, he\u2019s in the form of Sophia (Julia Doyle), a pastor’s daughter.<\/span><\/p>\n

We also know he\u2019s been around a while. If you remember in From season one, Tabitha started digging a hole beneath the house. While Jim tried to hook up a radio to the outside world, a voice on the other end said his \u201cwife shouldn\u2019t be digging that hole.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At that moment, a storm engulfed the town, causing the house to collapse. In the season three finale, just before slashing Jim\u2019s throat, the Man in Yellow said, \u201cYour wife shouldn\u2019t have dug that hole, Jim,\u201d suggesting it was him on the other end.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He also has supernatural powers that go beyond taking on other forms. For instance, he momentarily wakes up the unconscious pastor he used to enter Fromville, telling him that he played an important role.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Man in Yellow (or Sophia) then expresses that the next bit is their favourite – watching the townsfolk tearing themselves apart – before killing the pastor.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond the radio incident, Miranda\u2019s paintings and her visions of the Man in Yellow prove that he\u2019s been around for decades, as she was trapped there around the late \u201870s\/early \u201880s.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And since he\u2019s able to shapeshift, there\u2019s all the chance he\u2019s been there for far longer. Or, as one theory suggests, since Fromville\u2019s inception.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From season 4 sparks giant spider theory<\/h2>\n

This idea basically combines two overarching theories: that the giant spider is behind the smiling monsters who stalk Fromville and that the Man in Yellow is actually the entity who controls it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So, the Man in Yellow\/Sophia\u2019s true entity <\/span>is<\/span><\/i> the giant spider.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

First, to refresh your memory, spiders have been lurking in the background of From since the very beginning. In season one episode one, Ethan (Simon Webster) tells Julie a story about the Lake of Tears (more on this shortly), before later dreaming about a huge spider descending over the water.<\/span><\/p>\n

We also see spider webs deep in the forest when Boyd (Harold Perrineau) and Sara (Avery Konrad) venture out in season one episode nine, including a horrifying vision of Abby trapped inside one.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since then, fans have theorised that the giant spider isn\u2019t just another monster in the woods – it\u2019s the entity at the centre of everything happening in Fromville.<\/span><\/p>\n

As said by one <\/span>Redditor<\/span><\/a>, \u201cRather than being some sort of overarching evil force, he is hiding his true self – his final form being the giant spider that has been foretold since the very beginning\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFor as long as the characters stay within the town, he is able to manifest in human form and conduct the psychological games the series relies upon.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

There are, of course, plenty of other theories, with some believing the Man in Yellow <\/span>is<\/span><\/i> the entity\u2019s original form.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think the Man in Yellow is the demonic force that the original adults made the bargain with,\u201d said one.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But the spider entity is a solid theory, and it ties directly to the Lake of Tears, which has sparked further speculation since its mention in From season four<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Could the Lake of Tears be the exit?<\/h2>\n

The most convincing element of this theory is the idea that the Lake of Tears isn\u2019t just another creepy location in From – it\u2019s actually the exit of Fromville, and the Man in Yellow\/Sophia\/giant spider is guarding it.<\/span><\/p>\n

And weirdly enough, the show may have been hinting at this since episode one, when Ethan had the dream of the Lake of Tears with the spider descending upon it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In From season four, Ethan has a visit from ghost Jim, who says the lake is \u201chere, and I need you to find it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

As the Redditor suggested, maybe the Man in Yellow is trying to prevent the residents from discovering it\u2019s the exit out of there.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

They went one step further and speculated whether this will form the conclusion of the TV show.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe survivors piece together all the clues – the dream, the experience, and the shapeshifter – and arrive at the realisation that the Lake of Tears is their only chance for escape,\u201d they wrote, adding that this may lead to a final showdown between the townsfolk and the entity.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a separate <\/span>Reddit<\/span><\/a> post, one fan highlighted the fact that Boyd saw Abby trapped inside a giant spider web.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThat means the souls of the dead people might be in the Lake of Tears\u2026 Jim, Abby, Father Khatri, and others could all be there.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNot only that, the souls of the Anghkooey children who were sacrificed might also be trapped there. That could be why the giant spider is guarding the lake.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cRescuing souls who are trapped like this might be the way to escape this place\u2026 The giant spider\u2019s intention is to stop that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Some fans also believe the Lake of Tears is physically connected to the caves beneath Fromville. After all, when Tabitha falls through the hole under the Matthews house in season one episode 10, water drips down onto her from somewhere above.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
