The Devil Wears Prada 2 has got some rave reviews<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Woah, who would have guessed that journalists might like a film<\/a> about how glamorous and important journalists are?<\/p>\n

Time<\/a> magazine argued the sequel is “actually a better movie than its predecessor<\/a>“. Stephanie Zacharek felt that the first film mostly mocked the fashion industry, while the sequel “is both more affectionate toward fashion and more fiercely protective of what, at its best, it can be”.<\/p>\n

According to Mashable<\/a>, The Devil Wears Prada 2<\/a> is “a perfect sequel” that\u00a0 “cleverly reinvents the franchise for the now with its meme-worthy one-liners and undying love for fashion and journalism”.<\/p>\n

The Times<\/a> was a particular fan of Meryl Streep’s performance as Miranda Priestly<\/a>. Well, aren’t we all? Kevin Maher wrote: “Streep guides the character to sublime places. She does physical comedy with a Jacques Tati-esque routine involving hanging up her own coat. She does mildly sozzled at a party in the Hamptons (cameos here including Jenna Bush and Tina Brown). And if Miranda\u2019s default setting remains soign\u00e9 swagger, she also reveals subterranean torrents through silent half-snarls and tiny broken grimaces.”<\/p>\n

Some critics have called out the film for its ‘mixed messaging’<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> complained that the film wasn’t deep and meaningful enough. David Rooney wrote: “Remind me, are we critiquing conspicuous displays of wealth or endorsing them? You could get whiplash trying to figure out where this movie stands on ostentatious luxury.”<\/p>\n

He took issue with an “illogical plot contortion” about Andy criticising in increase of luxury real estate in New York… then moving into a fancy apartment anyway.<\/p>\n
