Meryl Streep knew the original Devil Wears Prada<\/a> was going to be a hit, and so she negotiated to earn double the original offer. Even then, her 2006 paycheque looks measly next to what she\u2019s earning for the upcoming sequel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ahead of the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2<\/a>, Streep sat down with her fellow cast members Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci to speak with Today about her decision going into the original film.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI knew it was going to be a hit. I read the script – the script was great. They called me up, and they made an offer, and I said \u2018No. I\u2019m not going to do it.\u2019\u201d Streep explained. \u201cI wanted to see if I doubled my ask, and they went right away and said \u2018Sure.’\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Celebrity Net Worth<\/a> and other sources, Streep was paid $5million for her role in The Devil Wears Prada – meaning her initial offer would\u2019ve been $2.5million.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But that\u2019s still minor in comparison to her 2026 salary. Although figures haven\u2019t been confirmed, one source estimates her paycheque to be around the $20million mark.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, according to Variety<\/a>, the production budget pre-marketing was $100million, meaning anywhere between $30-$50million would have been spent on the cast.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But given that includes actors like Hathaway, Blunt, and Tucci, it would be safer to assume around $10-15million for Streep. Oh, and in case you were wondering, her net worth is estimated to be $100million in 2026.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
