Looks like J.K. Rowling<\/span><\/span> is fully on board with HBO\u2019s new take on the wizarding world of Harry Potter<\/a>, and she\u2019s not being subtle about it.<\/p>\n

After HBO<\/span><\/span> dropped the first teaser<\/a> for its upcoming Harry Potter<\/span><\/span> series last week, there were a lot of divided opinions.<\/p>\n

Replying to a person on X who called the teaser \u201cbloody marvelous\u201d and said they \u201ccannot wait\u201d, Rowling matched the energy, saying the show looks \u201cincredible\u201d and that she\u2019s \u201cso happy\u201d with it. Safe to say she\u2019s not exactly nervous about this reboot.<\/p>\n

The series is going right back to the beginning, adapting Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019re talking all the big early moments: Harry getting his Hogwarts letter, meeting Hagrid, buying his wand, and that first iconic trip through Platform 9\u00be where he meets Ron. There are also glimpses of Hogwarts life, from the Sorting Hat ceremony to classes with McGonagall and Snape, plus Quidditch and Draco Malfoy already being a menace.<\/p>\n

Rowling\u2019s not just watching from the sidelines<\/h2>\n

Rowling is properly involved this time. She\u2019s been working alongside the creative team shaping the series, and she\u2019s already teased how strong it is behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

Back in 2025, she said on X: \u201cI read the first two episodes of the forthcoming HBO \u2018Harry Potter\u2019 series and they are SO, SO, SO GOOD!\u201d<\/p>\n

HBO has been upfront about her role too, with CEO Casey Bloys saying she was heavily involved in choosing showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod. The plan is to stretch the story out, with each book becoming its own full season.<\/p>\n

The controversy isn\u2019t going anywhere<\/h2>\n

Of course, any J.K. Rowling headline in 2026 comes with context.<\/p>\n

Since 2020, she\u2019s faced major backlash over transphobic comments,<\/a> and she\u2019s continued to double down on social media. That controversy has followed the HBO reboot too, with some people unhappy about the network continuing to work with her.<\/p>\n

HBO CEO Casey Bloys has tried to draw a line, saying her views haven\u2019t influenced casting or the creative direction, and that the show won\u2019t be \u201cinfused\u201d with those opinions.<\/p>\n

Rowling herself also made headlines after responding to criticism around casting, saying on X: \u201cI don\u2019t have the power to sack an actor from the series and I wouldn\u2019t exercise it if I did\u2026 I don\u2019t believe in taking away people\u2019s jobs or livelihoods because they hold legally protected beliefs that differ from mine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oh, and she\u2019s still stirring the pot<\/h2>\n

Rowling also recently raised eyebrows with a cryptic post that many people think was aimed at the original film trio.<\/p>\n

When asked which actors \u201cinstantly ruin a movie\u201d, she replied: \u201cThree guesses. Sorry, but that was irresistible,\u201d followed by laughing emojis.<\/p>\n

Rowling is fully backing it, and whether that helps or hurts the hype\u2026 is a whole different debate.<\/p>\n
